Melville Charitable Trust

The Melville Charitable Trust, established in 1990, is dedicated to solving homelessness by providing $6–10 million in annual grants to organizations working to ensure all people have a safe place to call home. Collaborating with advocates, organizers, providers, researchers, policymakers, and government agencies, the Trust focuses on Connecticut and national initiatives.

In 2021, the Trust launched a new vision grounded in racial equity, targeting the root causes of homelessness and housing instability. This strategy emphasizes supporting anti-racist policy changes, shifting public perceptions through narrative change, and addressing systemic issues that disproportionately affect Black, Indigenous, and Latino/a/x communities with extremely low incomes.
