Giving Grove's community orchard program challenges that status quo, reaching beyond incremental change to relieve the burden of food insecurity in urban neighborhoods for generations to come.

Join a Movement – This national expansion will unleash social entrepreneurism that exists in every neighborhood in America. Help us realize our vision of delivering thousands of little orchards in food insecure urban neighborhoods across the nation; creating a system of local food production that feeds people for decades; establishing a national network of neighborhood stewards trained in holistic methods for growing fruit; and witnessing urban neighborhoods transformed by their own work and generosity.
Ignition – Our expansion begins by identifying a Chief Development Officer who has a proven track record and entrepreneurial spirit to build and fund a high-performing team to deliver this vision. We anticipate the CDO role to focus on cultivation of high net-worth individuals and pursuit of national foundation grants, but also playing an active role in the development of the organization’s marketing and social media strategy.
A mindset of “ABUNDANCE” – Our plans are to become part of an “aligned action network” building partnerships with existing urban agriculture and community garden non-profits in large metropolitan cities across America. You will work with the investors and philanthropists to fund expansion, but also become a trusted partner and advocate for the local affiliate organizations.
The Most Lovable of Cities – Home-base is Kansas City – a little known culinary mecca, ranked by Charity Navigator as one of the Top 10 philanthropic cities in America, boasting individuals with a strong sense of family and strong work ethic, and home to three major league sports venues.
A dreamer and a doer – The ideal candidate must be capable of both developing a strategy and delivering on that strategy – and must have the people skills to establish an effective collaboration among partnering Development Directors across geographies. With the start-up nature of the organization, we expect the CDO to play an active role in every aspect of fund raising – from grant writing to relationship cultivation. Are your dreams scary big? Salary and Benefits – Salary commensurate with experience and track record with a range of $65K – $80K. Two attractive HSA health benefit plans to choose from. Two years of funding for this position is secured.
