CHADS is a national leader in  youth suicide prevention. We are a 501(c)(3) organization offering three evidence-based programs Signs of Suicide®, Family Support, and Social Emotional Well-being advancing the awareness and prevention of depression and suicide. Aside from providing adolescents and young adults ages 25 and under with counseling services, social and emotional wellbeing mentoring, and educational programs, we also serve parents, educators, and community members with resources, presentations, and more to provide a holistic and proactive approach to mental health. With lives impacted more than doubling within the last year, all three programs are in growth mode  

Our team and clients are diverse located in both urban, suburban and rural areas.  We have adopted a 10-year Impact Statement with the goal of expanding our outreach throughout the state of Missouri.

What you will do:

As the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead a passionate and caring team of professional service providers. Reporting to the CHADS Board of Directors, strategically, the CEO will implement CHADS mission through advocacy,  maintaining and establishing new relationships with client stakeholders and implementing new approaches to grow CHADS’ reach. On a day-to-day basis, the CEO is responsible for overall strategic planning, revenue generation, financial management, organizational development, staff management, program operations and community engagement.  

Key Areas of Responsibility will include:

  • Mission, Impact Statement, Core Values: Shares a passion for the mission by working with Board of Directors and leading, motivating and developing staff to ensure attainment of the Agency’s business and program goals and 2023 Impact Statement.    
  • Board Relations and Governance: Communicates frequently with Board President and members by providing timely and accurate service performance data, financial reports and personnel matters.
  • Vision Leadership and Advocacy:  Acts as a passionate spokesperson for the Agency by representing the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations and the general public.  Establishes sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with funders, donors, school districts, community groups and organizations.  
  • Compliance/Legal Issues:  Ensures that all Agency documentation and records are compliant with federal, state and local regulations and policies.
  • Business and Operational Administration: Works with staff to ensure that business operations, staffing, and technology resources are in place for effective Agency operations. 
  • Staff Development: Encourages a high performing and diverse staff through HR staff training and education programs in support of the Agency’s overall business plan and strategic direction.  
  • Development: Advance organizational capacity, capability and impact by expanding on current development efforts and creative support for expansion of philanthropy.  
  • Programs Management:  Ensures that programs and services are designed and delivered with high quality, have a positive impact and are evidence-based.
  • Community Engagement:  Ensures Agency collaboration with existing partners and school districts while connecting with new partners and school districts to maintain and advance CHADS 10-year impact statement.

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in behavioral health sciences or related field from an accredited college or university  with a master’s degree preferred.


  • 10 + years of experience in a non-profit executive leadership position with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees
  • Strategic planning and fundraising experience including annual campaigns and the securing of grants 
  • A proven record of accomplishment of budgetary and fiscal management in excess of $3M or more annually 
  • Prior experience leading and developing evidence-based program outcomes, operational KPI’s, and fundraising improvements
  • Demonstrated success in developing and strengthening community outreach and relations with preferred experience in partnering with school districts
  • Prior experience and/or a strong connection to working with depressed or suicidal youth, preferred
