Reporting to the Founder and Executive Director, the Director of Development is primarily responsible for bringing in revenue streams to the non-profit. The director will be in charge of planning, organizing, and directing all of Free The Bid’s grants, new subscriptions plan, expansion into TV and Film, donations, special events, business fundraising, Brands, TV networks and Studios’ donations, annual fund, planned giving and capital campaigns. The Director works closely with Founder, Executive Director and on all development and fundraising endeavors.


  • Grow, with input from Founder and Executive Director, a major subscription plan including identification, cultivation and solicitation of subscribers.
  • Build and implement a fundraising plan.
  • Create and execute an expansion plan into TV and Film.
  • Make Public appearances and accept Speaking engagements in support of the organization’s commitment to our mission and to meet our public relations strategies.
  • Serve as support to the Executive Director, including administrative and supervisory matters in the absence of the E.D.
  • Maintain Databases/Donor Records, monitoring cycles of communications with pledged contacts, in order to generate Case Studies, etc.
  • Oversee fundraising database and tracking system; enter, track, manage, and acknowledge all individual donor, corporate donor, and grant data on database software for fundraising, donor management (such as eTapestry) and create and monitor donor and fundraising reports for donor analysis
  • Development and stewardship of new corporate partners and pledged brands.
  • Develop a program of instructional workshops on how to implement and monitor the Free The Bid pledge within brand operations
  • Cultivate and activate corporate sponsorship and individual support for signature events, (Manage and produce corporate events, programming, funding of events, documentation of events)
  • Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
  • Develop the subscription plan’s partnerships to increase value for subscribers
  • Creation of publications to support fund raising activities, such as videos, slideshows, decks and infographics for presentations and fundraising opportunities
  • Collaborate with Founder on the planning of a monetization, membership, and subscription strategy
  • Participate in the research process for new iteration of the Free The Bid website, as pertinent to Development role
  • Improve and manage all local social media channels, GetResponse e-blasts, and newsletter communications/campaigns to promote Free The Bid worldwide and to increase brand awareness
  • Other shared administrative duties with Executive Director as assigned
  • Support and establish policies that promote company culture and vision, including comprehensive goals for performance and growth
  • Perform other related duties as requested


  • Experience in Business Administration; demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Have knowledge and experience in fund raising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising
  • Exceptional organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to successfully juggle and re-prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced, changing work environment
  • Non profit experience, specifically in cause marketing and grant writing
  • Prior supervisory experience, including team development preferred
  • Superior interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to speak and present to groups, as well as possess ability to prepare clear and accurate reports.
  • Must be able to interact well with a diverse range of people, and to constructively give and receive feedback.
  • Knowledge of corporate PR language
  • Brand familiarity and basic graphic design sensibility
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for various events
