Opportunity

SPAN is seeking to hire a Director of HR/Operations to join our management team. The ideal candidate will provide inspired leadership for the day-to-day operations of our organization including personnel/human resources, equipment, phone systems, etc. The Director of HR/Operations will help promote a company culture that encourages morale and high-quality performance. They are responsible for important strategic decisions regarding staff benefits, personnel policies and practices, and strategies to improve agency infrastructure and organization including technology enhancement. The Director of HR/Operations will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Coordinate implementation and revision of personnel policies and practices to ensure consistency with current federal, state, and local laws.
  • Consistently recruit excellent staff and maintain a smooth onboarding process.
  • Provide assistance in reviewing benefit packages to meet individual needs.
  • Create and identify professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Handle workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, and termination procedures.
  • Maintain employee and workplace privacy.
  • Maintain confidential employee records including payroll documentation.

Office Systems

  • Coordinate efforts to improve infrastructure and office organization, identifying problems and opportunities for the organization.
  • Manage upgrading of computers and computer systems and secure needed software.
  • Maintain and report on workplace health and safety compliance.
  • Coordinate planning and logistics for all internal/external conferences, and other meetings.
  • Oversee purchasing and inventory of office supplies and office equipment including laptops, cell phones, projectors, etc.

Administrative

  • Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations.
  • Coordinate necessary administrative staff and duties.
  • Attend necessary and mandatory professional development activities.
  • Supervisor of Administrative staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate through a combination of education and experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of HR and office systems issues of particular importance to non-profit organizations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the goals of the organization and to equity and social justice.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in an organization with diverse staff, Board members, volunteers, and constituents.
  • Experience in providing training to adult learners is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and sound decision-making.
  • Outstanding ability to work well with a wide spectrum of people.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency working with MS Office Suite, Google Suite, Smartsheet, online project management and event planning platforms, social media, video conferencing platforms, and mobile apps.
