As a member of the leadership team of the Amputee Coalition, the Director will develop and implement the strategic plan for Peer Support Programs focusing on staff and volunteer growth for scalability of these critical programs. That will include integrating these programs across the organization and developing strategies for furthering the impact and reach of the Peer Support programs. The Director is responsible for oversight and implementation of programs and services funded in whole or in part through federal, state or private grants meet grant requirements provided by Peer Support.
The Director of Peer Support will work with the leadership team in strategic alignment, achieving key performance indicators, and elevating the Amputee Coalition by delivering top quality, evidence-based programs.
- Optimize staff and volunteer growth to scale programs reach and impact.
- Leads oversight of peer support program, budget compliance, and volunteer training and engagement
- Oversight of curriculum development and volunteer training
- Responsible for ensuring peer support programs implement best practices and evidence-based approaches to improve outcomes for community members
- Oversight of program growth through strategic partnerships including the Amputee Coalition’s Hospital Partnership program
- Work with strategic partners including the Veterans Administration and the Department of Defense to implement aligned programs
- Provide direction to build and grow the Amputee Coalition’s Peer Support Program including: In-person and virtual Peer Support training, certification and reporting systems, Building relationships with hospital partners for peer support to fully integrate programs and resources into the clinical setting at the point of care, Build and grow support mechanisms and reporting for people living with limb loss and limb difference across age, race, sex, and geographic area; Oversee strategies to promote diversity and inclusion for minority and underserved populations; Diversify programs and services available for families and caregivers; Develop and implement an evidence-based support group certification program for excellence in support group programming and community support
- Expand and implement programs and services to increase youth support programming
- Oversee the continued development and maintenance of the Amputee Coalition’s Peer Support mobile application
- Provide reports and updates of program impacts against key performance indicators and strategic plan goals
- Leads implementation of department strategy in line with organizational strategic plan goals
- Work with Peer Support staff to develop and provide timely reports for grant reports
- Develop and deliver presentations about peer support programs and resources available for professional and consumer audiences
- Oversee best practices to ensure integrity of peer support data required for reporting
- Develop strategies to ensure that target metrics are achieved according to established timelines
Core Competencies and Qualifications
The director of peer support should have demonstrated experience with the following core skills and competencies.
- Leadership: Including problem solving, relationship management and development, negotiation and research skills, open-mindedness, and agility
- Communications: Including the ability to recruit, engage, persuade, inform, and educate internal and external audiences verbally and in writing
- Organization: Including project, stakeholder, process, and workflow development and management
- Technical: Including experience using relationship management systems, financial management/reporting systems, Microsoft 365, and other relevant software as well as the ability to analyze data
- 10+ years’ experience in community health programs in a non-profit health-related organization including 3+ years of successful leadership experience preferably in non-profit organizations and/or community health programs
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Public Health, Human Services, Social Work, or similar field
- Master’s degree in public health, social work, public administration, or similar field preferred
- Demonstrated ability to identify, lead, and motivate staff and volunteers
- Experience in financial management, including managing budgets, revenue projections and expenses
- Demonstrated competence in management of programs and services in the non-profit sector
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills that motivate staff, volunteers and donors to commit to and provide support for the Amputee Coalition’s mission
- Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of the Amputee Coalition
- Current knowledge of relevant personnel regulations affecting non-profit entities and volunteers
