The Executive Director has six major areas of responsibility: 

  1. Staff recruitment, development, and retention
  2. Strategic partnerships, organizational, and programmatic development
  3. Lobbying and legislative oversight
  4. Fundraising
  5. Marketing, public relations, and communications
  6. Operational leadership, including board development and engagement

EV is seeking a dynamic and proven leader who will work with the Board and staff to fulfill the organization’s vision and mission.  We are looking for someone who is able to lead us into a future where our organization is more racially just and trauma-informed. Essential qualities for this role include:

  • A commitment to EV’s guiding values and principles and an understanding that this approach is central to the overall protection and advancement of LGBTQ equality.
  • A personal approach that understands, respects, and responds to intersections of race, ethnicity and national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, ability and socioeconomic circumstance, and how these intersections of identity affect the experiences of LGBTQ people. Leadership at EV requires that everyone on our team is able to work with diverse individuals within the organization and broader community.
  • An understanding of the prevalence of trauma experienced by LGBTQ people, recognizing the impact of trauma on individuals who are involved with EV, and responding in ways that create safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.
