Summary
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have operational and fiscal responsibility for Cross Plains Community Partner’s staff and programs. This role requires a leader who is a strategic big thinker with the capabilities to continue to develop and grow the organization; a leader who can pivot to accommodate continuous change. The ED is business minded while incorporating proven abilities to provide leadership in a way that enables the team to reach their full potential. Success in the ED role requires being well-connected and resourceful in IDD.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Fiscal: financial management and leadership to include budget preparation, revenues and expense management; administration and oversight of contracts to ensure compliance-based administration and accounting for services; identification and mitigation of financial risks, report to board on financial performance.
Leadership: cultivate a high-performing culture built on organizational values of trust, respect, partnership, and innovation by embedding person-centered practices at all levels; provide visionary leadership including establishing strategic direction; engage CPCP’s board, employees, volunteers, event committees, partnering organizations, and benefactors; exercise effective management of leadership team; serve as an advocate and maintain working knowledge at national, state, and local levels on behalf of meeting the needs of people with IDD; sustain CPCP accreditation; report annually to board, benefactors, and stakeholders on the state of the organization.
Operations Oversight: Maintain and evolve operations, policies and procedures, and commitment to perpetuating quality programs and data-driven program evaluation that simultaneously meet regulatory requirements and best practices including but not limited to DBHDD, CARF, CMS/Federal Medicaid Guidelines, Department of Labor, state-funded contracts, and employment-related administration; serve as organizational HR manager in conducting and overseeing all aspects of the employment lifecycle to drive effective attraction, retention, engagement, safety, total compensation, training and development including WEX, performance management, recognition, and status as an employer of choice; ensure building and infrastructure are appropriately budgeted and maintained; report to board on status of operational excellence.
Fundraising / Communication: solicit and engage in fundraising activities that support existing and provide for expansion of services and programs; facilitate effective communications and brand internally and externally including interpersonal and virtual depictions of CPCP; develop and maintain strong working relationship with benefactors, including hosting annual United Way tours and community presentations and information, participation and cultivation of strong relationships with the Division of Developmental Disabilities, local and/or national boards, committees, and workgroups that further the work impacting the IDD system; administer reporting associated with United Way and other entities; report to board on efforts and outcomes.
Strategic Planning: fully engage with board in development of strategic goals; build partnerships that enhance and expand opportunities to enable CPCP to fulfill its’ mission and needs of the local community; identify grants and alternative funding sources and create and implement new programs that align with the goals, sustainability, and growth of CPCP; serve as local and national resource by communicating and publishing program results emphasizing successes and scalability.
Qualifications:
The Executive Director will be thoroughly committed to the Cross Plains' mission and should have proven leadership, coaching and management experience.
Required:
- A Master's degree in Business in Human Services, Public Service or another related field; or Bachelor’s degree with 5 years or more experience in the IDD (at least 2 of those years must be experience supervising staff that provide DD services).
- Seven or more years of senior management experience
- A track record of effectively leading and scaling an outcome-based organization
- Specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth
Preferred:
- Excellence in managing an organization with proven experience and ability to identify, coach and manage senior staff to achieve organizational outcomes
- Proven ability to identify and develop high performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives and manage a budget
- Attributes that focus on sustaining a culture of trust, respect and person-centered practices
- Proven ability to positively influence, coach, listen, motivate and inspire people to produce their best work
- Knowledge and experience working with state and national IDD systems
- Ability to communicate in writing and speaking passionately and persuasively
- Proven interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
- Proven action-oriented and innovative approach to business and program planning
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups while maintaining a positive approach and culture
Physical Demands:
Work is predominantly performed in a quiet to moderately loud office environment. Required to remain in stationary position 50% of the time, occasionally move about inside the office, constantly operate computer and other office productivity machinery such as copier and position self to maintain files in cabinets and occasionally life up to 25 pounds; ability to accurately communicate information and ideas so that others will understand; observe details at close range; lawfully and safely operate a motor vehicle.
