Description
Women’s Fund of Hawai’i's mission is to support innovative, grassroots programs that empower women and girls statewide. Its vision is to create and sustain a Hawai’i where every woman and girl is safe, healthy, financially secure, and empowered to reach her full potential. We are seeking a self-driven and highly competent executive director to help us fulfill this important undertaking. This position is a full-time exempt position.
Reporting to the board of directors, the executive director will oversee the strategic and operational efficiency of the organization's programs and staff. The ideal candidate must possess a strong entrepreneurial drive, outstanding communication skills, strong leadership qualities, and good planning and organizational skills to steer and influence the organization towards favorable growth. Exceptional stewardship and strategic planning skills are required to expand the organization’s public profile as the leading advocate of women and girls in the State of Hawai’i.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Mission and Strategy. Works with the board, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through the articulation of the organization’s strategic roadmap and vision.
- Models the organization's values.
- Inspires excellence at all levels of the organization.
- Implements programs that carry out the organization's mission.
2. Fundraising. Works with board, staff, and advisors to develop and implement fundraising strategies.
- Maximizes contributions from foundations, businesses, and individuals.
- Serves as an active fundraiser for the organization by meeting with donors.
3. Financial Management. Maintains WFH's fiscal health
- Submits to the board a proposed annual budget for approval.
- Submits financial statements to the board treasurer before board meeting.
- Fosters an atmosphere of transparency and accountability.
4. Board Relations. Works with the board of directors and committees, informing, assessing, and addressing issues that affect the organization.
- Leads the organization in a manner that supports and guides the organization's mission and vision as defined by the board of directors
- Communicates effectively with the board and provides, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
- Works with the board to develop a strategic roadmap for the organization's continued evolution.
- Provides the board with feedback on progress towards achieving goals in accordance with the strategic plan and budget.
- Encourages board members' appropriate involvement in the organization's full range of activities.
- Assists in identifying and recruiting new board members.
5. Marketing and Communications. Serves as the face and public spokesperson for the organization.
- Clearly articulates the organization's mission, vision, advocacy agenda, and impact on the community.
- Works with the board, staff, and key community members to strengthen the organization's advocacy and public profile.
- Champion the organization's brand in person and across digital platforms.
- Serve as the face of the organization and actively participate in external events, both increasing visibility, credibility, and brand in the market, and develop strategic partnerships to increase community awareness.
6. Operations. Manages the day-to-day operations and programs, including managing staff and volunteers so they are mission-aligned.
- Hires and retains competent and qualified staff.
- Oversees the policies and procedures that the board have approved.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in business, finance, public relations, or communications preferred.
2. An understanding of fiscal management.
3. Public relations, marketing, and fundraising experience.
4. Entrepreneurial mindset, with innovative approach to business planning.
5. Nonprofit leadership and board governance experience preferred.
6. Highly ethical behavior.
7. Effective communicator.

10. An understanding of Hawai’i's women and girls' philanthropy.
SALARY
$100,000 annual salary per year and excellent benefits.
