The Executive Director of the Ohio State Bar Foundation (OSBF) is responsible for leading the organization, managing daily operations, and advancing its mission.

Description

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director oversees strategic initiatives across grant-making, fundraising, and program development, ensuring effective operational execution. This role requires strong financial expertise, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and the ability to inspire a high-performing team. The Executive Director must address challenges such as expanding the Foundation’s statewide reach, maintaining financial sustainability in a changing funding environment, and building meaningful partnerships within the legal community and beyond. In collaboration with the Board of Trustees, OSBF Officers, and various committees, the Executive Director ensures financial sustainability, legal compliance, and effective resource management. They will also foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, driving the organization toward long-term success.

  • The ideal candidate must have 7-10 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit, foundation, or 501(c)(3) association settings, with a proven track record of managing teams, aligning organizational goals, and driving operational success, along with a strong understanding of how charities effectively raise, manage, and allocate funds.
  • The ideal candidate must possess excellent communication and public speaking skills, paired with strong interpersonal abilities. The candidate must demonstrate expertise in relationship management, negotiation, and diplomacy, fostering positive interactions with staff, the board, and stakeholders while effectively resolving conflicts.
  • The ideal candidate must have the ability to serve as a dynamic and visible leader, actively raising the Foundation’s public profile. The candidate should excel at cultivating relationships across Ohio, representing the organization at key events and engagements, and acting as the primary face of the organization to expand its influence and network statewide.
  • The ideal candidate must be a transformative leader capable of driving innovation and identifying strategic opportunities for growth. The candidate should bring a forward-thinking approach, enhancing the organization's operational efficiency, increasing its impact, and expanding its statewide reach through creative leadership.
  • The ideal candidate must have proven financial expertise, with a specific focus on nonprofit financial management. This includes overseeing audits, managing restricted and unrestricted funds, collaborating with the Board’s finance committee, and ensuring long-term fiscal sustainability.
  • The ideal candidate must possess a strategic mindset, with experience in developing and executing strategic and annual plans, guiding the organization through complex projects.
