Summary

Transform Lives Through Hip-Hop as Healing Practice: Are you a music therapist, educator, or hip-hop artist ready to pioneer a new frontier? Join Refresh Collective's innovative model where hip-hop culture becomes therapeutic intervention for at-risk youth grades K-12 who have been failed by traditional systems.

Description

The Role:

Lead our therapeutic recording studio classroom serving 1-8 students per class in an intimate, relationship-focused environment. Facilitate 6-7 class periods for grades K-12 daily using our evidence-based "trust-based hip-hop pedagogy" that integrates trauma-informed care with authentic hip-hop culture. Support students in credit recovery, confidence building, and creating pathways to graduation through the therapeutic power of music production and lyric writing.

What Makes This Different?

This isn't traditional music therapy or typical teaching—it's both and neither. We use beat production as therapeutic modality. Students "name their pain to claim their future" through lyric writing as trauma processing. Hip-hop culture provides the authentic container for transformation. If you've been seeking to bridge clinical practice with culturally relevant artistry, this is it.

Your Impact:

– Create safe therapeutic space for multi-system involved youth

– Use music production and lyric writing as trauma intervention

– Build relationships that become reasons students want to come to school

– Collaborate with school staff on holistic student support

– Document progress using both therapeutic and academic frameworks

– Work with mix of long-term and short-term student placements
