POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Director of Programs, this role offers specialized responsibilities beyond the typical scope of direct service positions at Brain Injury Solutions. The Licensed Clinical Therapist will focus primarily on providing clinical interventions for individuals affected by brain injuries. This includes offering individual counseling to adult brain injury survivors and their caregivers free of charge to them with no medical billing required. This is a hybrid remote position. Candidate must reside in our service area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough initial assessments by reviewing medical, psychological, psychiatric, and social information, and use this to inform treatment planning.
  • Perform comprehensive intakes, including interviews and clinical assessments, to identify client needs, strengths, and challenges, and develop personalized treatment strategies.
  • Refer clients to crisis intervention services as needed to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Serve as a liaison with local resources and healthcare professionals, facilitating outreach and training opportunities for community partners.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with established program protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients to establish and achieve therapeutic goals, guiding a minimum of 25 clients per year through individualized sessions.
  • Contribute to Quality Assurance activities, including system analysis, resource utilization reviews, professional development, needs assessments, and program planning.
  • Lead and organize periodic learning opportunities for BIS staff to enhance knowledge of mental health and wellness, particularly in the context of brain injury rehabilitation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the broader mission and goals of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Advanced expertise in therapeutic interventions, counseling skills, and leadership, with the ability to coordinate services across a multidisciplinary team. Knowledge and experience in working with brain injury survivors is essential.
  • This role requires a high level of responsibility, including case management collaboration, primary oversight of therapeutic interventions, and coordination of external referrals for specialized care.
  • The primary therapeutic focus will be on the treatment of adjustment issues, anxiety, and depression in individuals with brain injuries.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or Counseling (LPC) with Virginia licensure (LCSW or LPC).
  • Minimum of one year of direct experience in providing therapeutic counseling and behavioral interventions.
  • Certification as a Qualified Brain Injury Specialist (QBIS) must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in brain injury rehabilitation, psychoeducation, and therapy is preferred.

ADA SPECIFICATIONS:
This position operates in a professional office environment with routine use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The role requires frequent travel within the service area to meet with clients and community partners.
