Position Description: 

The President and CEO will shape, guide and execute the organization’s vision for the future.  This is an opportunity to build on a history of service, while accelerating the agency’s impact in the 21st century.  The Board is seeking an innovative leader who is a passionate advocate for the organization’s mission and will inspire others to support the organization’s impact. This individual must have experience leading and directing complex organizations with diverse internal and external constituencies. They will be a change agent, with the capacity to implement effective organizational practices within child welfare, while creating a nimble institutional culture that can adapt to a changing strategic landscape. This person must have tremendous integrity creating a stable, fair, equitable and inclusive work environment characterized by its compassion not only for the children and families served but the staff who are dedicated to fulfilling this important mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Works with the leadership team to ensure the agency operates within specifications of all federal, state, county and local laws and regulations.
  • Helps provide strategic direction and communicates and clarifies the organization’s vision, mission, outcomes, goals, and activities for the board, staff, donors and community partners.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with community partners, donors and internal staff.
  • Keeps the Board of Directors informed of any changes in the status of programs.
  • Oversees and participates in creating, executing, and evaluating all fundraising strategies to support programs and operations.
  • Promotes strategic thinking related to fundraising with board members and staff.
  • Serves as the key liaison with county, state, and federal government agencies to advocate for resources to support our clients.
  • Acts as spokesperson for the organization.
  • Working with the staff and Board of Directors establishes current and long-range goals, objectives, plans, and policies subject to approval by the Board of Directors.
  • Implements the policies developed and adopted by the Board of Directors.
  • Evaluates existing policies and services with specified goals and standards and recommend modifications where appropriate.
  • Analyzes data to assess the effectiveness of current procedures and activities.
  • Works with management to develop annual budgets. Monitors actual performance vis-a-vis budgets and revises as appropriate.
  • Conducts periodic leadership team and management team staff meetings.

Qualifications & Experience:

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of serving on a nonprofit leadership team or board and executing operational strategies.  They will be a collaborative leader and have a passion for the organization’s mission, clients and staff.  The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to operate effectively within a nonprofit governing environment. They should possess the following:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit, corporate or government sectors.  3+ years human services experience with a strong preference for child welfare experience.  Knowledge of partners, referral sources, Colorado county and state funding as well as regulatory policies is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social services, social work, or business administration.  Master’s Degree required.
  • Demonstrated strong operational leadership overseeing complex service offerings with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strategic planning skills.
  • Understanding of how to creatively address the fast-changing operating environment in which the organization operates. Experience fostering change to ensure a nimble organizational culture.
  • Results oriented with demonstrated success in operating a financially healthy and sustainable organization including an understanding of nonprofit budgets, multiple funding sources including government grants and donors.
  • Proven experience building teams, structures and systems to support an impactful institution.
  • Relationship builder who develops durable relationships with staff, partners, donors, stakeholders and constituencies.
  • Provide strategic fundraising guidance as well experience bringing in new donors and sources of funds as well as maintaining and nurturing existing revenue streams.
  • Excellent communications skills and executive presence. As the face of the organization must have highly developed verbal, written, and presentation skills. Must also be able to effectively communicate with the families and children the organization serves.

 

Compensation/Benefits:

Compensation:   Salary Range $165,000 to $200,000 plus performance based bonus
