Description

Executive Director, 317 Main Community Music Center

317 Main Community Music Center seeks a dynamic and visionary leader who will guide our organization into the future. As our original Executive Director retires later this year, we are looking for a new Executive Director who will be a strong relationship builder with a deep commitment to fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence in all aspects of teaching, programming, and operations. The Executive Director will serve as an effective and authentic ambassador for 317 Main.

The ideal candidate will be a leader with a passion for music and arts who will inspire and guide our organization grounded by its mission: To encourage creative expression, personal growth, and community connection through music.

About 317 Main
317 Main Community Music Center, based in Yarmouth, Maine, serves as a hub of musical exploration and community spirit in Southern Maine and beyond. 317 Main brings the power of music to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. The organization was founded on the idea that music can engage, vitalize, and strengthen human connections in our communities. Started in 2004 as a grassroots meeting place for jams and classes with just 3 teachers, 317 Main has developed into a regional hub for music education and opportunities with 40+ teaching artists serving over 800 students. This growing organization has been a center for creativity and community rooted originally in the folk arts, but now offering an ever-expanding variety of musical genres and expressions.

In 2023, on the heels of receiving a MacKenzie Scott grant and a successful capital campaign, 317 Main opened an addition bringing our facility to 14,000 sq ft, increasing our number of studios and adding a gorgeous 200+ person performance hall. We have barely tapped the potential of this new space which is primed for an annual schedule of concerts, events, and other community-building events. This growth of infrastructure and expanded programming necessitates updates and formation of new organizational policies and operating processes.

317 Main provides instrumental and vocal instruction, music groups and ensembles, summer camps, a performance venue for students and touring acts, and hosts a variety of events. Additionally, 317 Main is a leading partner organization to over 50 nonprofits and businesses in Southern Maine, providing tailored programming for musical community-building in various offsite locations. 317 Main takes pride in high quality arts programming, fostering musical skill acquisition across the lifespan, with Little Roots programming from our Little Roots programming serving ages 0-6 through our Deep Roots Programming focusing on healthy and creative aging.

317 Main is a respected employer of teaching artists and a model for community arts education. We strive to be an inclusive and equitable organization that reflects the diversity of the music and performing arts traditions that it teaches and celebrates.
