Description

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the company general ledger, producing financial reports for all internal and external financial statement users, and supervising the day-to-day operations of the financial reporting and accounting functions for the organization. Responsible for compliance with generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP) as well as policies of Kidango, the Independent Auditor, funding sources, Federal Office of Management and Budget, and the Kidango Board of Directors.

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Directly supervise the finance team and provide oversight of all day-to-day financial operations, including payroll, billing, general ledger management, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, etc.

  • Assure adherence to monthly accounting cycles, and support the finance team to meet deadlines.

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for review, (including explanations for variance analysis) and prepare cash flow analysis.

  • Direct annual audit and 990 processes, serving as the principal liaison to the external auditor.

  • Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.

  • Oversees organization general ledger and budget management functions, including preparation of the annual budget.

  • Provide financial reports to departments and Leadership Team to support the oversee their adherence of department and funder budgets.

  • Develop tools and work in partnership with programs to track and assure timely expenditure of funds.

  • Create and maintain relationships with service providers and contractors, including banking institutions.

  • Establish and implement short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

  • Administers endowment funds and investment portfolio.

  • Developing funder budgets and submit budget revisions as needed to maximize utilization of grants.

  • Oversee submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to public and private funders.

  • Assure controls are in place to identify and track eligible expenses.

  • Hire, train and develop employees who will be an asset to the finance department.

  • Provide fiscal oversite and analysis to all organizational operations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     

 Preferred qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • CPA and/or CMA preferred but not required.

  • 3-5 plus years of managerial accounting and financial management experience.

  • Experience with full range of accounting, bookkeeping, and fund accounting procedures

preferred.

  • Five years’ work experience supervision.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Strong oral, written, and computer skills.

  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.

  • Preferred computer skills include, Center Track, SAGE Intacct, ADP or equivalent

software, on-line banking, Advance Excel, Word, Gmail, etc.

  • Ability to work effectively and use a positive approach with a diversity of people.

  • Ability to provide leadership, accept responsibility, work independently, and set own

goals in a professional manner.

  • Ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously and able to work a flexible schedule,

including some evenings and weekends.

  • Skilled at social emotional relationships with staff, families, children, and the

community.

  • Works as a member of the agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of the

agency.

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people.

  • Provides excellent customer service to all staff, clients, and contacts of agency.

  • Advocates on behalf of all children, families, and staff of agency.

  • Fundraises and seeks opportunities to optimize and increase agency resources.

  • Maintains confidentiality of children, families, and staff.

  • Strong oral, written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively

with people from a wide range of backgrounds.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the Chief Directors/CEO

  • Must pass a health screening and TB test 

  • Must pass background fingerprint clearance 

  • Valid Driver License 

  • Must be 18 years or older 

  • The ability to lift up to 30lbs may be needed during some job duties .
