The Job
As a Graphic Design Coordinator for the GSA Marketing and Communications team, the ideal candidate will possess strong graphic design proficiency, project management skills, and a passion for marketing. This role involves coordinating design projects from concept to completion while supporting the marketing team with campaign development, brand management, and content creation. You will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure that all marketing and design initiatives align with brand standards and business objectives.
Key Essential functions include but are not limited to:
- Graphic Design Proficiency:
- Create high-quality visual content using design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Develop designs for digital, print, and social media platforms that align with the brand’s visual identity.
- Ensure all design deliverables are visually compelling, on-brand, and optimized for the intended platforms.
- Strong experience in page composition and typography, for magazine publishing and production including prepress, file preparations technical and packaging production.
- Project Management:
- Coordinate and manage design projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all creative projects meet the marketing team's goals.
- Oversee timelines, resources, and feedback loops to maintain project flow and achieve deadlines.
- Creativity and Visual Thinking:
- Develop original design concepts, layouts, and visuals that effectively communicate key messages and enhance marketing campaigns.
- Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate innovative ideas into marketing and design projects.
- Marketing Support:
- Assist in the development of marketing campaigns, ensuring all graphic materials support campaign objectives and resonate with the target audience.
- Contribute to content creation, including social media posts, email newsletters, and marketing collateral, working closely with the marketing team.
- Assist in audience segmentation and performance analysis to ensure design elements are aligned with the needs and preferences of different target markets.
- Brand Management:
- Ensure consistency of brand messaging and visual identity across all marketing and design efforts.
- Act as a brand steward, reviewing marketing and design materials to maintain quality and brand alignment across all platforms.
- Communication:
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to understand project goals, deliver feedback, and ensure timely completion of marketing and design materials.
- Present design concepts clearly and effectively, tailoring presentations to different stakeholders, such as marketing leads or department heads.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of proven experience in a high-performing marketing department or agency setting.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other relevant design tools.
- Solid understanding of marketing principles, including audience targeting, campaign development, and content creation.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent creativity and visual thinking skills to create compelling marketing materials.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with teams and present ideas effectively.
- Keen attention to detail, ensuring error-free, high-quality designs and marketing materials.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a marketing role or within a marketing team.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, email marketing, and digital advertising tools.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and evolving project needs.
Working Environment/Physical Requirements
- Extensive computer work – six or more hours per day, multiple projects and multiple deadlines that create a demanding work environment are standard.
- Office Presence-may be required in Boulder, Colorado, office based upon specific deadlines.
- Remote Work Flexibility: FlexFirst policy for remote work, ensuring productivity and work-life balance.
- Travel: Required to be onsite at Connects Annual Meeting (up to 8 nights), and travel to regional meetings to assist in various roles is likely.
- Physical Requirements: The role requires handling materials up to 40 lbs for office setup and event preparation.
- Stand and/or walk for long periods of time while on-site at meetings.
An ideal candidate will have a minimum of two to four years of graphic design or marketing experience.
The opportunity is a full-time, non-exempt, flexible position with a desired base in the Boulder, CO Headquarters with a Hybrid work schedule. The hourly range $26.44-$31.25 per hour, which is $55,000 – $65,000 when annualized. GSA provides excellent benefits, including medical, dental, and PTO, which include paid holidays, life insurance, 403(b) retirement, and opportunities for professional development. Additional recognized time off includes Juneteenth and Indigenous Peoples Day in 2024.
