The Grant Writer will be responsible for the identification, development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to new and existing corporate, community, and private family foundations. This position will work with a team of volunteers in the research and pursuit of new foundation funding leads. We have a preference for candidates residing in MI, OH, IN, IL, or WI as you will be required to travel for all staff meetings.

Job Overview:

The Grant Writer will be responsible for the identification, development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to new and existing corporate, community, and private family foundations. This position will work with a team of volunteers in the research and pursuit of new foundation funding leads. We have a preference for candidates residing in MI, OH, IN, IL, or WI as you will be required to travel for all staff meetings.

Key Responsibilities:  

Identify, research and submit to prospective foundation funders – with the goal of submitting at least 2 new proposals weekly to support organizational fundraising and growth goals. 

Take new, researched leads from other staff and volunteers and prepare submissions and add to grants tracking documents

Handle all grant reporting and renewal activity for foundations assigned

Work collaboratively with volunteers seeking prospects for submission in their respective state chapters

Preferred Skills and Abilities

Proven track record of meeting aggressive grants/foundation revenue goals

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey gratitude, accurate mission, and organizational information in a high-quality fashion.

Excellent writing, time management, volunteer leadership and project management skills.

Action-oriented work ethic with a drive to manage priority work and meet deadlines.

Personal work character and style that aligns with GOA’s core values: honor, amplify and be scrappy.

Ability to travel on occasion

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field of study
5-7 years of related experience with proven results
Grant writing, submission and associated revenue generation required.
