Summary

We're seeking a part-time development contractor to provide focused support in grant writing, donor communications, and development infrastructure. This role is best suited for someone who works well independently, communicates proactively, and is motivated by cause of pediatric rare disease, research, and health.

Scope: 

This scope of work falls across three priority areas, with specific focus shifting by in alignment with the development roadmap:

Grant Research & Writing

  • Research and develop a qualified list of 8–10 foundation prospects for operating grants and conference support. Draft and submit 4–6 grant applications over the contract term, sequenced to the campaign calendar
  • Track all grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and funder correspondence
  • Prepare interim and final grant reports for any awarded grants

Donor & Campaign Communications

  • Draft custom one-page case statements and gift proposals for major donor asks
  • Write donor acknowledgment letters and stewardship communications
  • Develop content for the year-end giving campaign: 3–4 email series, Giving Tuesday activation, and top-donor outreach materials
  • Support development of tiered conference sponsorship package materials
  • Create shareable assets for our patient ambassador fundraising program

Development Infrastructure

  • Support CRM implementation by loading historical donor data and tagging records as appropriate
  • Manage all aspects of the donor database system including gift entry, acknowledgements, personal thank you notes, reconciliation, and reporting
  • Maintain an organized donor pipeline
  • Generate quarterly fundraising reports and pipeline snapshots for board presentations
  • Maintain a master grant calendar with deadlines, submission status, and award tracking

Experience/Background

  • 3+ years of nonprofit development experience
  • Hands-on grant writing experience 
  • Strong written communication for both foundation/funder and individual donor audiences
  • Comfort managing multiple deadlines independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with a nonprofit CRM (GiveButter, Bloomerang, or similar)

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience with small organizations
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in rare disease, PCORI, pediatric health, or research-focused organizations
  • Prior experience as a freelance or contract development professiona

Details:

Compensation is $2,500/month, (approx 12-15 hrs/week) for total contract value of $30,000.  This is a 12 month independent contractor position.
