About Tangelo Tree Consulting
What We Do
Founded in 2018, Tangelo Tree Consulting (TTC) is a strategy and planning practice that helps nonprofits pursue big ideas for social change. We work with clients to reimagine, rebuild, and redefine nonprofit success and impact. We do that through strategy development, new partnerships and mergers, business planning, and developing comprehensive financial strategy, planning, and analysis. We partner with nonprofits to facilitate essential conversations, explore big ideas, navigate critical decision-making processes, and develop new models for transforming delivery of nonprofit missions.
Who We Work With
We work with nonprofit organizations all over the country rooted in social justice. Recent TTC clients have worked in community organizing, political advocacy, food access, affordable housing development, community and economic development, community health clinics, science and children’s museums, grantmaking, racial equity training, and more.
About Our Practice
Tangelo Tree Consulting delivers customized consulting services to meet the various needs of our clients for each project. We believe that the systemic and deeply entrenched challenges our clients are tackling require fresh ideas, creativity, and new approaches. We don’t use “one size fits all” approaches or default models in our work. Instead, we build custom project teams that bring together a unique set of skills and experiences for every engagement. Our practice has seen eight consecutive years of steady growth. This role will be working closely with our core team of six staff and consultant partners across many project teams on a regular basis. Members of TTC project teams are based across the country, all rooted in a set of common beliefs.
What We Believe
Building stronger, healthier, more equitable communities is central to our mission. We believe that nonprofits are vital community infrastructure, and when nonprofits have the tools and resources they need to succeed, our communities are more connected, more vibrant, and more just. We think meaningful change requires addressing the root causes of social inequities, and we see our role as supporting and strengthening the organizations that are undertaking this critical work.
How We Work
- We facilitate our clients’ strategic decision-making through a rigorous and contextual process that we build to meet each organization’s needs.
- We develop the right information for decision-making by analyzing financial data; conducting surveys and secondary research; and engaging community members, field leaders, and subject experts.
- We bring the right voices into the process, surfacing perspectives from board and staff across an organization to develop robust solutions and build confidence in the pathway ahead.
- We work with clients to develop practical tools that can be used for ongoing analysis instead of static deliverables.
- Our approach centers relationship-building. Because we work with our clients on challenging, nuanced issues, we find that bringing respect, honesty, and the right amount of humor to a project leads to both deeper impact and more enjoyable work.
- We partner with our clients, learning from one another as we work to build effective organizations.
