POSITION SUMMARY
As the Development Director – US, you will be responsible for driving the business development and fundraising strategy in the US and directly accountable for the revenues target in the US. The incumbent will lead a small-dynamic fundraising team in the US and manage and share relationship development across the organization (Cambodia, Australia, US, UK, and HK).
S/he focuses on identifying new business opportunities and cultivating major donors and building customized relationships, implementing engagement, stewardship, cultivation and recognition activities that generate short and long-term results while deepening and diversifying CCF’s funding base with current and new donors.
We are looking for a dynamic, self-starter, results-oriented and experienced person to help continue to grow our fundraising outreaches and new donors acquisition. The Development Director must be a self-motivated team player with compassion who is committed to our cause and has a track record of delivering fundraising results.
 KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS (KRA)
CCF is a values-based organization where visible leadership, integrity, transparency, responsibility and accountability are expected and where staff are accountable for demonstrating these values in their work and behavior.

The role has key responsibilities as follows:
 

  • Model the organization’s values and work with other executives to raise the profile of these values and associated behaviors with CCF;
  • Own and manage the US fundraising strategy and implementation in collaboration with the Global Development Director to ensure the fundraising targets are met;
  • Develop new business opportunities and manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals and major corporate partners and foundations, generating maximum funding;
  • Ensure the cultivation, direct solicitation, and stewardship of new major gifts and high-net-worth donors and prospects, with a clear strategy and timeline for each
  • Lead the fundraising team to ensure the use of information about major donor interests to design, implement, and oversee a customized individual relationship, foundation relationships, and mass donor communications that integrate with CCF’s programs and events schedule and in partnership with the grants team for the grants proposal calendar;
  • Build the US fundraising team’s capacity to ensure the team has the necessary skill sets to achieve their full potential;
  • Lead the creation of a pipeline of funding packages to proactively reach out to donors for potential support based on current and future program needs, services, and new initiatives;
  • Conduct research on individuals, grant-making entities, corporations, and family foundations with the goal of uncovering new prospects to support CCF’s programs;
  • Work closely with the Development Director – global, Executive Director and the Global COO to leverage our board members, volunteers and donors and develop activities that better connect our staff to interested philanthropic partners;
  • Stay current with organizational strategies and program details and plans in order to recommend potential funding opportunities to donors;
  • Lead and support fundraising events. This includes but is not limited to gala fundraising events, soliciting current donors and prospective donors to secure tickets and tables, securing pre-committed funds to the event, and other duties as necessary;
  • Represent CCF at fundraising, corporate, and awareness-building events and in donor cultivation meetings;
  • Utilize specialist databases (Salesforce) and other tools to actively engage with donor relationships and tracking;
  • Accountable to the US fundraising performance and target, monitor the progress and produce monthly reports and make necessary adjustments and changes to reach the targets;
  • And other duties as assigned.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA (KSC)
The candidate needs to share a passion for CCF’s organizational values; care, excellence, teamwork, integrity, leadership and respect and show willingness to integrate the values into their work and demonstrate behaviors that reflect the values. The candidate must be a self-starter and self-motivated and committed to the underlying ethos of CCF.
Specific attributes and person qualification include:

  • A graduate degree, with a minimum of 8 years’ successful relationship development and management expertise with demonstrated ability to extend professional networks, engage and convert new high-level donors;
  • Strategic thinking and implementation: demonstrated ability to research and source funding options which are consistent with the values and CCF’s strategic objectives;
  • Event management expertise: Demonstrated ability to initiate successful events which attract actual or potential benefactors and serve to raise the profile and reputation of CCF;
  • Highly accountable: Demonstrated ability to establish mutually agreed performance plans and to deliver on agreed targets for income generation, fundraising, in-kind donations, grants and increase child & granny sponsorship;
  • Sound communication skills; ability to successfully communicate with international colleagues and manage a small team;
  • Previous experience in major gifts, consultative sales and /or account management will be highly regarded;
  • Endorsed 'Working with Children' screening required; A compassion for the poor, neglected children, and a deep personal commitment to CCF’s vision, mission and core values.
