The American Mural Project (AMP) is entering an exciting new era, and we’re looking for an Executive Director who can turn vision into action. As AMP expands its programming and national reach, this role offers a chance to shape strategy, lead a talented team, and build lasting connections across the arts, education, and nonprofit sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Vision – Programs
• Collaborate with the Founder and CEO on capital projects, long-term planning and artistic vision.
• Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board of Directors.
Fundraising & Development
• Lead fundraising efforts, including major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships and donor cultivation.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support annual operations and capital initiatives.
• Serve as the primary ambassador for AMP with donors, partners and the broader community.
Operations & Program Oversight
• Oversee day-to-day operations, including staff management, program delivery and visitor experience.
Finance & Administration
• Manage a ~$2M annual budget with strong fiscal discipline and transparency.
• Oversee financial planning, reporting and compliance. Ensure sound accounting practices and effective resource allocation.
Board & Stakeholder Engagement
• Support and engage with the Board on governance, fundraising and strategic initiatives.
• Maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, educators and arts organizations.
Candidate Qualifications
• 7 to 10 years of leadership experience in nonprofit organizations with budgets of $2M or more.
• Proven success in fundraising, donor relations and capital campaign management.
• A visionary thinker with a passion for the arts, education and community engagement.
• Strong financial and operational acumen, including budgeting and accounting.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Experience working collaboratively with founders or artistic directors is a plus.
