Description
Arkay, Inc. is seeking an Executive Director to lead the mission of empowering individuals with developmental disabilities and enhancing their quality of life. Arkay, Inc.’s mission is “To assist the Developmentally Disabled & the Elderly Disabled to achieve community inclusion that enhances personal potential, employment opportunities and /or volunteerism.” Arkay is to be recognized as a premier provider of services that utilizes “best practices” in exercising its commitment to providing a range of programs for individuals with disabilities to maximize their individual quality of life potential as contributing members of the community. Arkay provides individualized services ranging from vocational evaluations and basic skill development activities to real work opportunities with community employers. Our programs foster independence, inclusion and advocacy for those served.
The Executive Director will lead the organization's strategic and operational success, reporting to the Board of Directors. This role requires a leader with commitment to the mission, a track record of nonprofit management, and the ability to inspire and lead a dedicated team.
Key responsibilities:
· Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute strategic plans, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
· Fundraising and Financial Management: Oversee fundraising efforts, cultivate donor relationships, secure grants, and manage the organization's budget to ensure financial stability and growth.
· Program Development and Oversight: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality, person-centered programs and services that meet the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.
· Team Leadership and Management: Recruit, train, supervise, and empower a diverse and high-performing staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
· Compliance and Advocacy: Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and best practices within the field of developmental disabilities. Advocate for the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.
· Community Engagement and Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, government agencies, families, and other stakeholders, enhancing the organization's visibility and impact.
· Board Relations: Foster relationships with the Board of Directors, providing them with information and working collaboratively to achieve organizational goals.
Qualifications:
· A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, business administration, nonprofit management) is preferred.
· A minimum of 10 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, with a strong focus on program management, financial oversight, and staff development, ideally within the developmental disabilities sector.
· Demonstrated experience in fundraising, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and event management.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
· A strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to developmental disabilities services.
· The ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including individuals with developmental disabilities, families, staff, and community partners.
· Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Accounting Software.)
