Hiring an agile Product Manager to manage our multi-tenant platform of educational resource libraries, serving K12 and Higher Education partners worldwide.

Description

ISKME is a remote-first, independent education nonprofit based in Half Moon Bay, California. The Product Manager  oversees the OER Commons platform and tool development, new feature development, and drives the infrastructure development of the platform overall. The individual in this role will own the platform road map, participate in sprint planning and prioritization for developers, and will lead the specifications of new features and infrastructure. This role works closely with the scrum team and the Senior Architect, defining ticket priorities and strategy for overall platform direction. Additionally, this role collaborates with the Services team, including partner relations, library service, the professional learning team, and the research team as necessary. 

Reporting to the Vice President, Services, the person in this role will be responsible for collaboratively writing feature specifications and requirements, prioritizing the road map, bi-weekly sprint planning and backlog refinements, and ensuring new platform development is well-documented. The person in this role will receive feature requests from multiple sources, including internal needs, client needs, and market needs. Prioritizing development and understanding the resources needed to successfully build and launch a new feature are key responsibilities. As a remote-first organization, applicants must have their own computer and a dedicated work space.  

Key responsibilities

  • Road Map: Maintain, develop, and prioritize the platform road map.

  • Project Prioritizations: Based on internal and external requirements, work with the Engineering Manager to prioritize engineering tickets. 

  • Specification Development: Develop feature specifications/requirements based on user research and platform data that can be translated into actionable JIRA tickets, based on road map priorities.

  • Cross-functional team management: Work with other team members to ensure services are developed iteratively, bringing value to partners and end-users. 

Skills required

  • Work as a Product Manager or Product Owner in an agile (scrum) development environment, sprint-planning

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, focusing on consensus building around trade-offs, both client and internal-facing

  • Demonstrated experience in developing feature specifications, writing user stories and product requirements, and working with a cross-functional team to define feature development paths

  • Experience with web and product analytics tools such at Google Analytics, Matomo, or Tableau

  • Familiarity with UX and prototyping tools such as Figma, InVision, Lovable, Bolt, Replit, etc

  • Ability to communicate client goals and acceptance criteria with the engineering team

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities

  • Conduct ongoing landscape evaluation to be able to incorporate innovative ideas and strategies into roadmap

Preferred Experience

  • Previous work experience in education technology field

  • Experience leveraging and/or contributing to open source software communities

  • 3-5 years agile product management experience

  • Masters of Library and Information Science

Salary Range & Benefits

  • Salary range is $80,000 – $90,000, depending on experience

  • Group plan for medical and dental insurance 

  • Access to 401k plan (non-matching)

  • Paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation

  • Remote office expense reimbursement, up to $500 per year
