JOB SUMMARYThe Dyslexia Tutoring Program (DTP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing free, one-on-one tutoring and other services to low-income children and adults with dyslexia or other language-based learning disabilities in the greater Baltimore area. Over the past 39 years we have helped thousands of people learn to read and live with hope. We may be small, but we have a big impact on the lives of our students. And we invite you to help us grow!The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for promoting our program, services and volunteer opportunities to schools, community programs, local nonprofits and other organizations in the greater Baltimore area. The objective is to build awareness and establish/cultivate relationships that will help DTP reach it goals for student enrollment and volunteer recruitment.The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills; the ability to make strong connections with others and reliably follow through with communication; facility with social media and graphic design tools; experience in outreach/marketing/promotions generally (for nonprofits a plus); the ability to demonstrate passion for DTP’s mission, and persistence in getting results. Familiarity with Baltimore’s education/nonprofit landscape and dyslexia/learning differences not required but a big plus.This position reports to the CEO and interfaces with all staff as well as clients, volunteers and outside organizations.Job Type: Part-time. Flexible schedule but must work minimum 20 hours per week and at least 3 days per week Mon-Fri.Hours: 8:30am to 4:30pmLocation: Onsite: The Rotunda, 711 W. 40th Street, Suite 310, Baltimore, MD 21211. O ccasional travel (local) required.Compensation: Hourly; Rate $24.00 per hour; mileage reimbursement; free parking at The Rotunda included.RESPONSIBILITIESConduct outreach via phone, email and in person with schools, libraries, local nonprofits, community centers, and other organizations in Baltimore City and surrounding areas to promote DTP’s programs and services for K-12 students and teachers.Conduct outreach via phone, email and in person with volunteer organizations, senior centers, local colleges/universities, schools and other organizations in greater Baltimore to promote DTP’s volunteer opportunities.Maintain/update DTP’s listings on various volunteer platforms (Idealist, Volunteer Match, etc.).Deliver presentations and informational sessions as needed at schools and other organizations regarding DTP’s services.Design, draft and edit informative and appealing fliers, fact sheets, social media posts/ads, articles, and blog posts as needed to support outreach efforts, keeping all content in line with DTP editorial guidelines.Maintain DTP’s social media presence on various platforms (Facebook/Meta, Instagram, TikTok), including regular posting and monitoring of post/ad performance.Log all outreach contacts.Conduct research to identify outreach opportunities.Acquire knowledge of dyslexia, the needs of dyslexic learners, and the tutoring methods that DTP uses.Acquire knowledge of the education/nonprofit/volunteer community landscape in Baltimore.Participate in DTP’s two major annual fundraising events (golf tournament and gala).Other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalent, some college/degree preferredExcellent written and oral communication skills; strong presentation skillsStrong organizational skills and follow through with keen attention to detailStrong work ethic with ability to work efficiently and achieve results in a part-time capacityPrevious experience in outreach, marketing, promotions and/or salesProficiency using social media (Facebook/Meta, Instagram, TikTok)Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word; Excel; PowerPoint; Outlook)Familiarity with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe, Constant Contact a plus)Prior nonprofit experience a plusAbility to travel locally; must have car and valid driver’s license.TO APPLY:Please submit your resume, brief cover letter, and names of three references via email to the following:Marcy Kolodny, CEO – …@mayday.orgRobin Murphy, Program Director – …@dyslexiatutoringprogram.org#J-18808-Ljbffr
