Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Grant Specialist to join our newly formed Grant Management Office (GMO) within the Environment & Sustainability department. We are experiencing a unique and powerful opportunity to help transform the sustainability of the cement and building materials industry through financial assistance that is available from various federal, state/province, and local government sources. The pursuit of this financial assistance requires unique skills and resources to identify opportunities, prepare quality applications, and manage the funding as the projects are executed.

What Youll Get to Do

  • Grant Management: In this role, you will support critical finance, grant, purchasing, and asset management programs. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance, seeking grant funding, managing grants, and assisting with purchasing and sub-recipient monitoring procedures. You will oversee the accurate recording of grant-related transactions on the general ledger for Heidelberg Materials and its divisions, ensuring compliance with 2 CFR 200 and the Single Audit Act. You will be responsible for balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close process related to grants.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including assistance and support for financial audits. Collaborate with external auditors for the successful completion of the annual audit in compliance with 2 CFR 200 and the Single Audit Act. Produce the Schedule of State and Federal Awards.
  • Conduct grant reconciliation to ensure funds are properly accounted for and utilized.
  • Maintain meticulous records and ensure adherence to record retention policies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (2 CFR 200).
  • Provide support for compliance and regulatory requirements related to grants.
  • Assist with grant-related procurement processes and documentation.
  • Monitor grant budgets and expenditures to ensure alignment with funding requirements.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on grant management best practices.

What We Are Looking For

  • You possess a background in contracts, grant management, and accounting, ensuring meticulous compliance with IFRS, GAAP, Uniform Guidance Administrative Requirements, and the Single Audit Act when recording transactions.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Your work style is hands-on, combining a strategic outlook with attention to detail for precise record-keeping and reporting.
  • You can make independent decisions and foster a team-oriented approach. You prioritize goal achievement while establishing a culture of responsibility and fairness.
  • You are willing to travel occasionally as required.
