Oakland Thrive seeks a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization into its next chapter of development and sustainability. This is a unique opportunity to drive strategic planning, infrastructure-building, fundraising, and impact measurement for a high-potential charitable nonprofit dedicated to inclusive economic empowerment. The CEO will serve as the public face of the organization and work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, funders, community partners, and local government. The ideal candidate is both a big-picture strategist and a hands-on builder who can turn early momentum into long-term impact.
Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Growth and Vision: Lead the creation and implementation of a long-term organizational sustainability plan, including strategic, operational, and financial components; translating Oakland Thrive’s mission into measurable goals and scalable initiatives that reflect the needs of the community.

Organizational Development: Lead the team, cultivating a culture rooted in equity, collaboration, and excellence. Develop internal systems and processes to support efficiency, transparency, and accountability.

Fundraising and Resource Development: Design and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy focused on foundation support, government contracts, individual donors, and corporate partnerships.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the organization’s chief ambassador, representing Oakland Thrive in the media, at public events, and in strategic partnerships.

Governance and Board Relations: Partner with the Board of Directors to align governance with organizational priorities. Ensure strong fiduciary oversight, including financial reporting and grant compliance.
Required Experience:

Minimum 7–10 years of leadership experience, with at least 3 years in an executive or senior-level role at a nonprofit, social enterprise, or community-based organization.

Proven success in building and scaling organizations or initiatives in early-stage environments.

Demonstrated experience in nonprofit fundraising, with an emphasis on institutional and government funding.

Deep understanding of economic equity, community empowerment, or small business development, especially in underrepresented communities.

Skilled in organizational design, strategic planning, and team leadership.
Preferred Experience:

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across diverse sectors and communities.

Knowledge of local government and policy processes.

Ability to navigate both grassroots and institutional environments with authenticity and confidence.
