Through compassionate listening, education, and mentoring, Voice and Vision, Inc. encourages our peers to thrive and live fulfilling lives. We influence change in human service systems and the broader community so people living with mental health challenges, addictions, and/or disabilities have the needed support and opportunities to live out their dreams.
For more than 25 years VOICE & VISION’s board and staff have worked with creative diligence to gather the voices of individuals and families, provide systems advocacy, and offer individualized support. Our work empowers individuals and families in Southeastern Pennsylvania who experience challenges with mental health, addictions, or disabilities to find their voice and live their vision.
We bring help, hope, and healing to individuals, families, and communities affected by mental health challenges, addictions, and disabilities in Southeastern PA.

Position Summary
Voice and Vision is seeking a visionary, compassionate, and community-rooted Executive Director to lead our mission-driven organization into its next chapter of impact and growth. We are a nonprofit committed to transforming lives by supporting people’s Vision for themselves, valuing each person’s contributions, and respecting the Voice/experiences of those most impacted by the challenges we seek to address.
The Executive Director will serve as the steward of Voice and Vision’s mission, working in close partnership with the Board of Directors, staff, and community stakeholders to ensure that our work is grounded in the lived experiences of those we serve. This role calls for a leader who brings professional excellence and a deep personal commitment to fostering a welcoming culture, cultivating growth, and driving positive change in the systems of care.
Core Responsibilities
- Mission Stewardship & Strategic Vision
Champion the mission, vision, and values of Voice and Vision, ensuring that lived experience and community voice are at the heart of decision-making, programming, and organizational strategy. - Collaborative Leadership
Partner with the Board of Directors and Executive Management Team to shape and implement a long-term strategic vision that drives meaningful, measurable change in the lives of those we serve. - Organizational Development & Culture
Cultivate a values-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered culture that supports staff wellness, professional development, and accountability. Model inclusive leadership practices that elevate diverse perspectives and honor lived experience. - Growth & Impact
Lead sustainable growth efforts, balancing innovation with operational excellence. Strengthen internal systems, staffing, and infrastructure to support organizational capacity and long-term impact. - Data & Evaluation
Lead efforts in survey design, data collection, analysis, and reporting to assess program effectiveness, inform strategic decision-making, and ensure accountability to the communities we serve. - Financial Stewardship
Ensure sound financial management and resource development, including fundraising and donor cultivation, with a commitment to transparency, sustainability, and community reinvestment. - External Relations & Advocacy
Serve as a key spokesperson and advocate for Voice and Vision, building authentic relationships with community members, partners, donors, funders, and policymakers to advance our mission and strategic goals. - Team Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, mentor, and support a diverse, high-performing leadership team using a strengths-based, coaching approach to supervision and leadership. Foster a collaborative, problem-solving team culture that values shared learning, accountability, and mutual support. Create pathways for emerging leaders, particularly those with lived experience, to grow and thrive within the organization.
Key Qualifications
- Proven track record of senior nonprofit experience, ideally in a mission-aligned setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with a nonprofit Board of Directors.
- Personal experience navigating a behavioral health challenge or developmental disability —either directly or as a family member/caregiver—and a commitment to lifting up the wisdom of lived experience in service of collective well-being.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in a related field preferred.
- Deep understanding of trauma-informed practice, behavioral health systems, or community-based work.
- Strong skills in relationship-building, team development, fundraising, and operational and financial oversight.
- Knowledge and experience in survey design, data collection, analysis, and reporting to assess program effectiveness.
- Courageous, authentic, and empathetic communicator with a commitment to, disability justice, and community accountability.
Supervision and Reports To
The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and provides direct supervision to:
- Associate Director
- Business Office Director
- Program Director(s)
- Human Resources Director (part-time or outsourced)
