Hourly Rate: 22.57 per hour
Hours: Full-time (35 hrs. per week)
Location: Hybrid (MA, CT, RI)
Position Summary
The Program Associate for the Area Conference Ministry (ACM) Team provides administrative support for functions of the ACM Team. As part of a dynamic team of 10, and working with other Conference staff as well as Conference constituents, this role is a balance of technical and interpersonal work.
The Area Conference Ministry Team provides care and connection to the almost 600 churches, 25 associations and 1,400 clergy of the Southern New England Conference, an Open and Affirming Conference of the United Church of Christ. Serving at the crossroads of what has been, what is, and what will be, the ACM Team facilitates adaptive change while maintaining covenantal processes.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain the calendars of six Area Conference Ministers, setting up meetings, creating calendar events, and sending video meeting links to constituents.
- Enter staff interactions into the database, ensuring that essential information about constituents is communicated with other staff in a consistent and timely manner.
- Participate in ACM Team meetings and special projects and collaborate with other SNE staff and teams.
- Create, update and disseminate most ACM Team communications, including but not limited to monthly regional newsletters, ACM website pages, Association communications and special messages.
- Provide event support for ACM team events (including but not limited to securing location and catering, registrations and materials).
- Interface with Association and Committee on Ministry volunteers, National UCC Staff and Authorized Ministers to ensure covenantal processes are maintained and supported in a consistent and timely manner.
- Function as the Registrar for Associations which have contracted with the Conference for this service. These duties may include setting up meeting agendas and video links and communicating with guests; collecting and disseminating paperwork ahead of meetings; and maintaining records.
- Manage the Massachusetts Bible Society Bible Grant program, communicating with applicants, ordering bibles and submitting receipts.
- All Program Support Associates may be required to participate in Conference-sponsored events throughout the year.
Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 2-3 years of administrative experience required.
- Highly organized and able to self-regulate workflow.
- Familiarity with databases and multiple digital tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

- The Program Associate will be required to participate in Conference-sponsored events throughout the year.

Situational Reasoning – Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness, and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
ADA Compliance
Physical Ability – Tasks involve the ability to travel to meetings outside the office, exert moderate physical effort, and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials up to 20 pounds. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and/or repetitive motion.
Sensory Requirements – Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Requires oral communications ability.
Environmental Factors – Tasks are occasionally performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, or pathogenic substances.
