The World Federalist Association d/b/a Citizens for Global Solutions Education Fund is seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Assistant Treasurer to join its Board of Directors. This is a volunteer position offering a unique opportunity for an accountant, lawyer, or finance professional to gain experience as a corporate treasurer and contribute to a movement seeking a peaceful, just, and sustainable world community democratically governed through a united federation of nations.

About Us:
Founded in 1947, CGS-EF is a visionary non-profit organization promoting global governance as the solution to global challenges including war, disarmament, environmental degradation, regulation of emerging technologies, injustice and inequity – in short, replacing the law of force with the force of law. CGS EF is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization.  We are the only US-based full member organization of the international World Federalist Movement/Institute for Global Policy, and we work closely with their Board and Membership Council as well as some committees and transnational working groups.  We also are in the process of finalizing a memorandum of understanding with Democracy Without Borders to host their Affiliated Group in the US.

The Role of Assistant Treasurer:

  • Assists the Treasurer in monitoring income and expenditures, generating special reports from Quickbooks and Bill.com.

  • Leads on budget oversight and financial policy and attends the Board’s Finance Committee (meets monthly via zoom).

  • Assists with compliance with regulatory and financial requirements.

  • Works with a contracted external accountant to manage reporting and audits.

Additional Details:

  • Time Commitment: Approximately 6-10 hours per month. Participation in quarterly Board meetings and monthly Finance Committee meetings expected (online).

  • Term Length: Term length for all Board members is 3 years with renewal possible; we hope that the successful candidate will advance to Treasurer upon retirement of the current Treasurer.

  • Support Provided: Current Treasurer will assist with onboarding. Finance and Executive Committees as well as staff provide ongoing collaboration.

  • Financial Scale: $412,000 expense budget supported by WFA Endowment Trust, bequests, and contributions. Income growth expected through grant applications.

Requirements:

  • Background in finance, accounting, law, or nonprofit governance

  • Familiarity with nonprofits or interest in global policy a plus

  • Creative, collaborative, and passionate about building a better world

  • Commitment to the organization’s mission
