New York Review of Architecture seeks an Associate Publisher for Partnerships and Development during an exciting period of growth for the publication. The primary responsibility of the Associate Publisher will be to lead all aspects of NYRA’s fundraising, from grant writing to business development to mobilizing a network of new and existing donors. They will also organize an annual gala as well as an ongoing series of events intended to expand revenue. Reporting to the Publisher, the Associate Publisher will work closely with NYRA staff and the board of the nonprofit that fiscally supports the publication. Their work will support NYRA’s mission of advancing critical conversations on the built environment.

Applicants should have at least three years of experience in development work, plus excellent relationship-building, project management, and writing skills. Candidates should be self-motivated and organize their work according to schedules and metrics they set with the Publisher. They should know how to put together a good party, and enjoy being a host. Knowledge of the architecture and publishing worlds is appreciated; a passion for independent media and NYRA’s mission is a must.  

Responsibilities include: – Overseeing NYRA’s annual fundraiser – Organizing new and existing donors and sponsors through targeted outreach – Grant writing and procurement – Organizing smaller fundraising events, such as dinners, tours, and other special events

The Associate Publisher will not be building a community of support or a fundraising strategy from scratch. We have a broad and enthusiastic cohort of sponsors and partners excited to help build the magazine. 

This full-time position includes medical and dental insurance, twenty days of paid vacation, and paid family leave. Compensation ranges from $66,000 to $75,000 a year, depending on experience, education, special qualifications, and other factors. The Associate Publisher will work full-time out of NYRA’s New York office. Evening and/or weekend work will occasionally be required. They will be eligible for membership in NYRA’s worker cooperative.
