Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Advancement Officer will be innovative, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven in leading its fundraising, communications, and external engagement strategies. This is an exciting opportunity to join the senior leadership team during a pivotal moment of growth and transformation. The CAO will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and contract support to grow private fundraising and elevate the organization's visibility and impact across the Bay Area. The CAO will lead a small team and oversee all aspects of fundraising, strategic communications, donor stewardship, and advancement operations, with a goal of raising $2–$3 million annually.

Formed in 1990 as Community Housing Partnership, HomeRise stands out among its peers in thought leadership and service provision, continuing a strong legacy of advocating for those who find themselves being homeless. They are proud recipients of the 2023 ULI Americas Award for Excellence, a testament to their commitment to innovation and impact in the field of supportive housing.
HomeRise is an outcomes-focused nonprofit that fulfills its mission by developing and managing high quality supportive housing and providing services to individuals, seniors and families experiencing homelessness to help them rise up and rebuild their lives and break the cycle of homelessness. Together with their supporters, they are changing lives and rebuilding the neighborhoods and City that they love. HomeRise's permanent supportive housing transforms the lives of more than 2,300 adults, children, seniors, and veterans who had previously experienced homelessness. The impact is long-lasting and profound: 98% of their past and present residents who experienced homelessness stay safely and permanently housed.
At least five years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising, advancement, or external affairs, including three years of direct team management, is required for this position. HomeRise will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. The salary range for this position is $175,000 to $200,000. HomeRise provides an excellent comprehensive benefits package including: 100% employer paid employee healthcare options (Kaiser or Sutter); dental, vision, life & disability insurance; FSA for childcare and medical expenses; pre-tax commuter expenses; a 403(b) retirement investment plan (Traditional & ROTH options) with an employer base salary and contributions match; Employee Assistance Program; paid on-the-job training, career advancement within a growing organization and professional development opportunities with an annual Education Benefit that includes up to 40 hours annual paid time off.
The benefits package also includes vacation leave with four weeks' vacation a year (13.33 hours accrual per month) and 14 paid holidays. In addition, as a member of the senior leadership team, the Chief Advancement Officer will have an additional 5 days per year of non-accruing personal leave in addition to the accrued vacation time, paid holidays with one floating day for their birthday, and 120 hours of annual sick time accrual. HomeRise also offers an Employee Referral Program, their HERO Award, recognizing outstanding performance in the line of duty, and sabbatical leave after 5 years of service.
