Summary
Description

ZRG Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with Extra Special People (ESP) in the search for a Chief Philanthropy Officer.
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) will be a bold, relational, and results-driven professional who will serve as the organization's senior philanthropic leader and a key member of the executive team. The CPO will build and lead a comprehensive, multi-year philanthropy strategy that fuels ESP's growth and advances its mission: creating transformative experiences for people with disabilities and their families and changing communities for the better.
This is both an enterprise leadership role and a frontline fundraising role. The CPO will lead and develop a high-performing team, personally manage a portfolio of ESP's most significant donors and prospects, partner closely with the CEO and boards, and strengthen the systems, culture, and relationships required for sustainable philanthropic growth.
The successful candidate will be a leader who has the strategic range, operational discipline, emotional intelligence, and organizational perspective to contribute well beyond fundraising. As ESP grows, this person will be expected to expand their enterprise leadership capacity and may be considered for broader organizational leadership opportunities over time based on performance, readiness, and the organization's future needs.
Extra Special People exists to create transformative experiences for people with disabilities and their families, changing communities for the better. Founded by Martha Wyllie in 1986, ESP began with a single summer camp in Watkinsville, Georgia. What began as a single week of summer camp has grown into a multi-community organization offering year-round programs, family support, and meaningful opportunities for connection, growth, and independence. For nearly 40 years, Extra Special People has built spaces where people of all abilities are seen, supported, and celebrated.
Families don't just participate in programs here—they find a place to belong. When people of all abilities are given consistent opportunities to connect, try new things, and be supported as whole individuals, confidence grows. When families are surrounded by community, support extends beyond programs into everyday life. And when communities are invited into that experience, perspectives change. ESP's work has been supported by 2,700 volunteers and served 1,450 families across 5 communities, with the vision of a world where every person, of every ability, in every community has universal access to transformative experiences.
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least eight years of progressively responsible nonprofit fundraising experience, including meaningful leadership of strategy, revenue, and performance, is required for this position. At least 5 years of successful people leadership, including coaching leaders, building accountable teams, and leading through growth or change, is also required.
Extra Special People will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. If you are excited about this role and feel that you can contribute to ESP, but your experience does not exactly align with every qualification listed above, we encourage you to apply. All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé. Cover letters should be responsive to the mission of ESP and the responsibilities and qualifications specified in the position prospectus.
The salary range for this position is $160,000 to $190,000. ESP offers a purpose-filled culture where people are supported, challenged, and celebrated, along with a comprehensive package of benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, a 401(k)-retirement plan, and generous paid time off.
Extra Special People is committed to the inclusion of all qualified candidates. If you require reasonable accommodation in completing this application, interviewing, or participating in the selection process, please contact Nicole Seipel at nicoleseipel@aspenleadershipgroup.com.
