Description

The in the Department of is seeking a positive, creative, and resourceful Special Projects Coordinator to oversee the annual Holiday Giving Program, facilitate other Community Services events and programs, assess community needs and identify necessary services, offer program support, conduct outreach, coordinate provider meetings, and establish new partnerships.

The Program Coordinator takes a lead role in helping to determine information sharing and capacity building trainings for nonprofit and other community partners and in addressing resident needs. The position also supports other Community Services functions including case management, grants support, and program services support.

To be successful in this position, you must be approachable, poised, diplomatic, and highly customer focused; have excellent computer and technology skills; demonstrate exemplary written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal communication skills; and be a great organizer who can prioritize work, juggle multiple projects, and meet firm deadlines. Initiative and good judgment are essential. Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred. You’ll be joining a dedicated and collaborative team committed to providing assistance and resources to City residents in need.

Starting salary for this position is negotiable within the anticipated target hiring range ( $70,000 to $80,000) and will be offered at a level consistent with the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Job Functions

What you will do with us:

  • Lead the coordination and facilitation of the annual Holiday Giving Program including soliciting, accepting, and tracking donations, coordinating with donors, partners, and families, managing client and donations database, corresponding with clients and partners, planning events, maintaining a gift card log, and completing an annual report.
  • Provide ongoing outreach to City neighborhoods, nonprofits, and other community partners to ensure awareness of City initiatives, promote volunteer and partnership opportunities, and determine program priorities.
  • Conduct ongoing research and analysis of best practice models for community outreach and service provision.
  • Solicit participant, staff, and public input to evaluate program effectiveness and quality assurance.
  • Conduct outreach services to residents and service providers to enhance service connections; coordinate and facilitate provider meetings and trainings.
  • Provide collaborative and program support to Community Service programs including providing support in assessing needs of clients and providing resources.
  • Develop, coordinate, organize, and implement networking events and educational and community building trainings.
  • Develop, design, update, maintain, and distribute public relations and marketing materials, email newsletters, select diverse social media outlets, organizational charts, select partner and committee rosters, web pages, and planning calendars.

Qualifications

What you will need to be considered:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services/Social Services or closely related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional work experience, including experience in community outreach.
  • Strong and effective organizational, interpersonal, administrative, analytical, customer service, project management, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Proficient technology skills (Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and diverse social media).
  • Ability to fluently speak, read, write, and understand both English and Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of budgeting, marketing, and resource allocation.
  • Be adaptable and flexible, excel in multi-tasking, and be persistent in the face of obstacles.
  • Be detail oriented and accurate, thorough in completing work tasks, and have a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated skill in effectively interacting and building rapport with a wide range of people.
  • Be able to work independently while following the directions and priorities set by senior staff.
  • Understand the needs of and be capable of working with an ethnically and economically diverse community.

This is a full-time salaried “exempt” position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week (not eligible for overtime compensation under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and the City’s personnel regulations). This position can accommodate limited remote work (at the discretion of the Department Director). Direct deposit of paychecks is a condition of employment for all City of Gaithersburg employees.
