Economic Justice Specialist

The Economic Justice Specialist will develop and implement strategies to improve financial stability, increase safety, foster self-sufficiency, and reduce the risk of violence within communities. They will also coordinate strategic planning efforts, provide technical assistance, and support local programs to ensure services are accessible, culturally responsive, and rooted in economic and racial equity.
The Economic Justice Specialist will lead the Transitional Housing Program and advance initiatives that promote economic justice for women and girls across Wyoming. Centering an equity framework, this role facilitates expanding access to housing, economic opportunity, and leadership development—especially for those traditionally underserved and impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the Transitional Housing Program which supports and funds local DVSA transitional housing programs statewide.
- Lead initiatives that expand economic opportunity, improve safety, and advance housing equity.
- Build capacity through training, consultation, and technical assistance on key topics such as: Anti-oppression and equity in service delivery, financial literacy, and economic empowerment, voluntary services, and trauma-informed programming. This work is rooted in survivor-defined advocacy, Housing First principles, equity, and trauma-informed practices
- Track outcomes and collaborate on strategic planning and evaluation to improve access and reduce disparities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Policy, Community Development, or related field; or equivalent experience
- Experience in victim services, housing programs, or community coordination
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with underserved populations and rural communities
- Experience with housing equity initiatives and financial literacy
- Experience in training design and delivery
- Experience working within a highly detailed and complex compliance and regulatory framework
- Familiarity with Wyoming’s justice system and social services related to DVSA
- Strong background in equity and anti-oppression
Work Environment
This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the Associate Director. The role may be performed on-site in Laramie or remotely from anywhere in Wyoming (tech equipment is provided, and reliable internet access is required). Travel up to 20% is required, with mileage, meals, and lodging covered while traveling.
