The Senior Advocate for Europe and North Africa is a full-time position. Under the supervision of the Vice President for Programs and Policy, the Senior Advocate for Europe and North Africa is responsible for conducting field missions to North Africa and the Mediterranean, investigating migration and displacement issues in relevant Northern African countries, assessing areas of migration flows to Europe, and monitoring the asylum process in Europe. The Senior Advocate will draft field reports and policy positions addressing the situation of migrants and refugees in North Africa as well as the ongoing European migration crisis. To advance RI’s organizational goals, the Senior Advocate will proactively engage the United States government, the United Nations, international organizations, and key institutions and governments in Europe and North Africa. She/he will be based in RI’s office in Washington, D.C.
