Education Trust-West, Director of P-16 Research

Director, Public Policy

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is the national umbrella organization for the nation’s leading network of women’s health care providers, educators, and advocates, serving women, men, teens and families. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of PPFA. For over 100 years, Planned Parenthood has done more than any other organization in the United States to improve women’s health and safety, prevent unintended pregnancies, and advance the right and ability of individuals and families to make informed and responsible health care decisions.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund seek a dynamic and effective individual to oversee the daily execution of the Public Policy Department’s work. Reporting to the National Director of Public Policy in the Government Relations Department, the Director of Public Policy will manage a team of policy experts and an expansive and exciting portfolio of issues that impact peoples’ ability to access comprehensive reproductive health services. This position includes the management of team members, oversight over the development and review of policy documents, materials, and tools, and the development and implementation of team processes.

The successful candidate will have experience managing people and projects, superb writing and editing skills, and the ability to quickly and effectively prioritize projects within a fast-paced environment. This position will play a critical role in managing PPFA’s burgeoning health policy portfolio and ensuring effective coordination and collaboration across the team and organization. Health policy advocacy or delivery experience is a plus.

Dependency Staff Attorney- Children & Youth

LACY (Legal Services for Children & Youth) is a program of the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley. LACY seeks a staff attorney to work in our juvenile dependency unit. The attorney will accept court appointments to represent minors subject to petitions alleging abuse and neglect. Frequent court appearances will be required in this position. It is anticipated that the attorney will appear primarily on a law and motion calendar. Trial litigation will also be required in this position. The attorney will work in tandem with a LACY social worker to assess the needs of minor clients. The attorney will meet with clients in a variety of environments, including office, school, and home settings. It is expected that the attorney will also provide advocacy for juvenile dependent clients in other legal areas, including education. This position will also require participation in LACY’s regular team meetings, staff meetings, and program development activities including assisting the LACY Directing Attorney and Supervising Attorney

Immigration Policy Advocate

The Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC) seeks a full-time Immigration Policy Advocate to lead our national immigration advocacy activities through policy analysis, advocacy, community engagement and organizing, and coalition building. The position’s key goals include building key policy champions on the national level, advancing SEARAC’s legislative and administrative immigration priorities, and providing policy technical assistance for local and state partners. SEARAC’s immigration work focuses on the unique needs and rights of Southeast Asian Americans (SEAAs) and other LPRs who are subject to mandatory detention and deportation because of old criminal convictions, as well as other immigration policies that impact SEAA communities.

The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to foster engagement among diverse – and even competing – groups, ranging from policy makers to local partners. They will be an exceptionally quick learner, thrive in a collaborative environment, and be able to work both independently and as a team. The ideal candidate will have experience in immigration and/or criminal justice issues affecting SEAA communities and other communities of color and will be able to effectively execute legislative and community awareness campaigns, as well as work productively in coalitions and partnerships. The candidate should also have a deep familiarity with the Southeast Asian American (SEAA) community. The individual reports to the Director of National Policy and is a critical member of SEARAC’s policy team.

This position is based in Washington, D.C.
