This is an exciting opportunity to help support the organization’s pursuit of our mission and vision. The Kittitas County Health Network’s Executive Director leads a team of people responsible for driving KCHN’s work forward. This position is primarily responsible for overseeing community health improvement plan implementation; strategic planning; sustainability planning and fundraising; high-level oversight of grants, programs, and services; and organizational development.  The Executive Director also oversees human resources and fiscal operations, data and performance measure management, and communications. The Executive Director is a visionary, adaptive leader who can grow and lead a dynamic non-profit organization and oversee the facilitation of collective efforts of different sectors of the community.  The position is accountable for nurturing the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization and its work, modeling and fostering a culture that reflects KCHN’s values at all times, and maintaining the organization’s identity as a respected, neutral convener among a broad spectrum of local stakeholders.

About the Organization

The Kittitas County Health Network (KCHN) is a non-profit collaborative made up of cross-sector organizations from health, social service, education, law enforcement, etc. in Kittitas County.  The work of this rural health network is driven by strategic issues identified in the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) which is informed by a comprehensive, community-based health assessment and developed by the partner organizations and community members.  The vision of KCHN and the CHIP is that all people in Kittitas County are supported in achieving health and wellbeing.  The organization’s mission is to is to improve population health through cross-sector collaboration and systems integration.  KCHN expects all employees to uphold the organization’s mission and vision.  Learn more at www.healthierkittitas.org

About the Work Environment

KCHN offers a friendly, family-oriented work environment with a high degree of flexibility in scheduling and work location. Expectations for quality and quantity of work are high, but a work-life balance is emphasized and supported.  The KCHN offices are located at 107 E. What does this job entail?

  • Network Development 15%:
    • Cultivate and maintain positive, productive, and professional working relationships with members of the Board of Directors, Leadership Council, Work Groups members, senior community leaders, other nonprofits and cross-sector organizations, and community members
    • Recruit participants to engage in the Board of Directors and Leadership Council as needed
    • Facilitate and manage the development and operations of Board of Directors and the Leadership Council
    • Provide high level oversight and support to the Project Directors and their staff in the facilitation and management of Network work groups
    • Lead teams in researching and writing proposals for grant funding to fund Network work
    • Develop and foster sustainability for the Network’s programs and services
    • Oversee Network internal and external communication standards and activities
    • Develop and implement standards and activities for public communication and engagement in Network activities
  • Organizational Development 15%:
    • Work closely with the Executive Committee of the Board on high level oversight of Network operations and development, contract and agreement approvals, and policy development
    • Develop, implement, and maintain organization policy and procedures
    • Lead the development and implementation of the organizational strategic plan
    • Develop and implement an organizational sustainability plan
    • Oversee the management of grants and other sources of funding, including fiscal oversight and compliance with deliverables
    • Work with KCHN members to identify and pursue potential funding sources to support KCHN’s goals and priorities
  • Community Health Improvement 10%
    • Lead Network participation in community health assessment and improvement planning processes
    • Facilitate and lead KCHN members in the implementation of community health improvement strategies and action plans
  • Human Resources 25%
    • Provide direct supervision and support to several positions
    • Ensure staff have the support needed to do their jobs effectively and efficiently
    • Ensure staff expectations are clearly communicated and are met
    • Ensure the organization is appropriately staffed and recruit, hire, supervise, support, and develop KCHN employees
    • Update and maintain the Human Resource handbook, policies, and procedures
    • Oversee hiring, performance evaluation, and performance improvement processes
    • Lead regular staff huddles and provide regular professional development opportunities
  • Fiscal Operations 20%
    • Create, maintain, and monitor an annual organizational budget
    • Conduct day-to-day fiscal operations including accounts payable and receivables
    • Conduct a monthly review of financial statements and grant balance tracking
    • Review financial statements with the Board of Directors and the Board Treasurer
    • Oversee annual fiscal audits and report results to the Board of Directors
    • Ensure the fiscal accountability of the organization
  • Data and Performance Management 10%
    • Oversee the development and tracking of data for key performance indicators at the Network, organization, program/services, and work group levels
    • Regularly analyze performance data for both highlighting successes and identifying opportunities for improvement
    • Utilize performance data to communicate the value of Network activities and work
    • Regularly track, update, and communicate about community level health data
    • Oversee the development of evaluations for programs, services, and activities
    • Oversee data tracking, compilation, and reporting as related to grant activities and deliverables
  • Other 5%: Professional development activities, other functions as assigned by the Board of Directors to support the mission of the Network.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with job responsibilities outlined above.  Experience can include lived experiences, traditional knowledge, volunteer experience, education/coursework, work experience, or other related experiences. 
  • Advanced strategy and planning skills, including the ability to think strategically on both organizational and systemic levels over multi-year horizons
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills before multiple types of audiences
  • Existing relationships with or ability to build authentic relationships with a diverse, cross-sectoral range of high-profile stakeholders in the local or regional area, including senior executives
  • Experience with grant writing and fundraising
  • Outstanding communication (written and verbal), public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of best practices in community-based health improvement efforts
  • Strong organizational management and leadership skills
  • Ability to successfully manage and develop staff in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Ability to create, manage, and monitor budgets and fiscal operations in a non-profit setting
  • Ability to create, manage, and monitor grant finances and deliverables
  • Ability to work effectively with and develop Boards of Directors, and other community-based groups

Compensation and Position Details

Reports To:         Board of Directors
Hours:                  40 hours/week, full-time
Wage Range:      $41-81/hour
