The Tulsa County Medical Society [https://www.tcmsok.org/] (TCMS) was formed in May 1907as the professional organization for physicians in Tulsa County and currently represents over 750 allopathic and osteopathic physicians, 532 medical students, and 171 residents. The purpose of the Tulsa County Medical Society is: “To promote the art and science of medicine, foster ethical practices among members and unite the medical profession in promoting public health.”
The mission of the medical society is: “To be the advocate for both physicians and patients, to support quality health care, to be a leader in health care reform and to sustain a continuing dialogue between the membership and the community in which we live and work.” Tulsa County Medical Society offers many opportunities throughout the year for its members to network both socially with their spouses and at business meetings.
TCMS offers an array of programs and services to its members, including physician wellness, advocacy, educational opportunities, access to care programs, local and state information andpublications, and insurance support.
The Executive Director provides strategic leadership and oversight of TCMS, working collaboratively with the Board of Directors, staff, committees, volunteers, and membership to advance the organization's mission and goals. Key responsibilities include financial management, fiscal oversight, and physician membership recruitment, retention, and engagement. The Executive Director also leads physician advocacy initiatives, supports the TCMS Foundation's charitable and community-focused activities, and oversees healthcare access, scholarship, medical education, and physician wellness programs. Additionally, this role leads fundraising and resource development efforts while serving as the primary representative of TCMS and promoting quality healthcare, physician advocacy, and community engagement.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong financial management skills, transparent and ethical leadership, and the ability to build trust through communication, performance, and accountability. They should possess excellent interpersonal skills, experience in event planning and management, and the ability to develop high-performing teams while supporting TCMS staff, committees, volunteers, and membership. A minimum of five years of successful executive leadership experience is required, with preference given to candidates with leadership experience in professional medical associations and the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential. An undergraduate degree is required, a graduate degree is preferred, and the ability to attend frequent morning, evening, and weekend meetings is essential.
The TCMS Executive Director will receive a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package. Salary is approximately $100,000 per year with the opportunity for a year-end bonus based on achieved metrics. Additional benefits include full coverage of employee's health insurance coverage, 401(k) retirement plan with 10% match, vacation, PTO, and paid holidays.
