Description

ZRG Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with St. Benedict's Preparatory School in the search for a Principal Gifts Officer.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement for Leadership Giving, the Principal Gifts Officer will build and lead a more intentional, strategic approach to principal giving. This individual will serve as a key member of the frontline fundraising team and play a foundational role in shaping how the school identifies, engages, and secures transformational philanthropic investments. In this role, the Principal Gifts Officer will develop and execute strategies to engage donors capable of making gifts at the highest levels of philanthropy, with a strong emphasis on cultivating and closing $1M+ commitments. This is a highly entrepreneurial position requiring the ability to build a principal gifts pipeline from the ground up while advancing priority relationships in the near term. Success will require exceptional initiative, persistence, and resilience, as well as the ability to engage new networks of high-capacity donors in close partnership with senior leadership and board members. This is a pivotal moment for St. Benedict's as the School advances the silent phase of a major comprehensive capital campaign.

St. Benedict's Prep is more than a school; it's a community like no other. For over 156 years, they have stood in the heart of Newark, NJ, guided by the Rule of St. Benedict and the monks' unwavering commitment to stability, service and education. Often called a miracle in education and recognized nationally as a model for revitalizing schools in urban, suburban and rural areas, St. Benedict's has welcomed generations of students, from the children of German and Irish immigrants in the late 19th century to today's vibrant, multi-ethnic student body representing all socioeconomic and faith backgrounds. Four core pillars – Community, Student Leadership, Counseling and Experiential Education – have defined and distinguished a St. Benedict's Prep education for nearly 50 years. The pillars are deeply ingrained into the life of the School. They ground them and provide the foundation for students to grow into loving, capable, resilient young people. At St. Benedict's Prep, students are challenged to discover their voice, lead with purpose, and thrive in a diverse and supportive environment. It's not just an education, it's a way of life that prepares them to make a difference in Newark and beyond.

A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of seven years of experience in fundraising, including significant major and/or principal gifts, is required for this position. St. Benedict's Preparatory School will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. If you are excited about this role and feel that you can contribute to St. Benedict's, but your experience does not exactly align with every qualification listed above, we encourage you to apply. All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé. Cover letters should be responsive to the mission of St. Benedict's Preparatory School and the responsibilities and qualifications specified in the position prospectus.

The salary range for this position is $165,000 to $180,000. St. Benedict's Preparatory School offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, long-term disability insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, tuition remission, and generous paid time off.

The Principal Gifts Officer can work anywhere within a two-hour drive of St. Benedict's, so long as they are able to travel to the Property on a weekly and as-needed basis.
