Summary

Volunteer Board Member for Nonprofit Museum

Description

The California Historical Radio Society is Recruiting Volunteer Board Members.

The California Historical Radio Society (‘CHRS’) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization celebrated its 50th year anniversary in 2024.  CHRS is dedicated to promoting the restoration and preservation of early radio and wireless communication, with emphasis on the San Francisco Bay Area.

CHRS owns its own building in Alameda which has recently been architecturally restored and now open to the public.  Readers are invited to explore www.californiahistoricalradio.com or the organization’s Facebook or YouTube channels.

With the 100 year old building now restored we are planning an ambitious exhibit expansion study and fund raising plan.

To successfully achieve our goals we need to add experienced board members who can assist the existing seven-member board in taking CHRS to the next stage of its development.

Applicants should have a general interest in radio, but more importantly, experience in educational program development, fund raising and museum operation.  Experience in grant writing would be a plus, as while CHRS is self-sustaining financially, evolving into a working museum with paid staff will require additional sources of revenue.

CHRS’s current Board meets once per month for 2 hours (sometimes via zoom) and Board committees meet by phone or video conference as needed.

To apply to join our volunteer Board, please contact the undersigned;
