The Volunteer Recruitment and Benefits Manager is a member of our “People Operations” team and will be working in support of and through collaboration with DREAM’s program staff. This staff member will drive volunteer recruitment across the organization, with the intention of ensuring a high-quality and diverse pipeline of volunteer candidates to generate enough volunteer mentors for a 1:1 ratio with youth participants. This staff member will play a central role in our service-expansion plan of increasing our base of mentors from 550 to 1500 over the course of 3 years. This person will also oversee the implementation of a volunteer benefits package to ensure the DREAM volunteer-experience is accessible and attractive to a diverse pool of undergraduate students.

Objectives of the Volunteer Recruiter and Benefits Manager:
- Recruitment of Volunteers
- You will grow DREAM’s volunteer base from 550 to 1500 volunteer mentors over a span of 3 years.
- You will establish a systematic process of recruiting volunteers, including site-specific roadmapping in collaboration with our regional and site-based teams.
- You will generate volunteer recruitment pathways for new sites and regions by utilizing new and traditional recruitment methodologies, and directing DREAM’s investment in new recruitment technologies such as LinkedIn and Handshake.
- You will develop and discover new recruitment pathways to maintain a robust pipeline of diverse volunteer applicants.
- You will create and support the distribution of marketing material that paints our volunteer opportunities in a clear, exciting and compelling way.
- You will convey organizational culture and expectations in a way that increases interest and recognition in DREAM, as well as providing a positive and engaging initial impression from incoming volunteers.
- Volunteer Benefits Coordination:
- You will expand access to volunteering to underrepresented groups by piloting and establishing a “volunteer benefits” program, which will include:
- Professional development around skills relevant to the volunteer experience and transferable to future pursuits
- A complementary certificate program to recognize skills learned
- Job-support including resume builders and access to DREAM’s professional alumni network
- Committed job references and recommendations

The Experience of the Volunteer Recruiter and Benefits Manager
- You will be a part of our People Operations team, and will meet virtually with this team and your supervisor on a regular basis.
- You will regularly coordinate and collaborate with current staff and volunteers on boosting the volunteer pipeline at the site level. This will happen both in-person and virtually.
- It is integral for the person in this role to regularly travel in the northeast and mid-Atlantic in service to developing volunteer recruitment channels and coordinating with regional staff.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- At least three years of recruiting, marketing, and/or talent acquisition experience, preferably with experience recruiting undergraduate college and high school student volunteers.
- Demonstrated knowledge of talent acquisition best practices and protocol.
- Competence in various talent acquisition channels, including recruitment platforms, professional networks, online communities, and social media
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Demonstrated ability to leverage networks and interpersonal skills to influence outcomes.
- Excitement and passion around working in support of youth access to mentoring and developmental relationships.
- Commitment to the mission of DREAM.
- Desire to enhance existing skills and develop new skills necessary for the role.
- Elevated awareness of issues of social equity and social justice with a commitment to continued learning as it relates to serving and elevating diverse communities in a manner that is respectful and aware.
- Ability and willingness to regularly travel to our DREAM locations in support of volunteer acquisition.
- Current driver’s license, proof of insurance, and clean driving record.
Type of work/expected commitment:
This is a full time, salaried, overtime exempt position. The position will average 35-45 hours per week with relatively flexible weekday hours and occasional weekend events over the course of the year. Participation and leadership at regular multi-day employee retreats or multi-day out of area travel (to fulfill role responsibilities) are required.
Compensation:
Total compensation value: upwards of $60,000 which includes:
- Salary range commensurate of experience ($42,500-$52,995), overtime non-exempt w/ overtime rate established based on salary offered
- Group Medical Insurance for the employee paid at 100% of cost the plan (no probationary period – plan is based on our current group offering in Vermont – a “bronze” plan level)
- five weeks (25 work days) paid time off (PTO) inclusive of vacation, sick and personal days;

Work environment: This position operates in multiple spaces. The spaces included will often be an indoor environment, in both shared and remote workspaces. You will often travel to other regions, be present on-site with active children and volunteers, within the housing communities we serve, or on campus at the colleges we are partnered with. This role routinely uses computers, phones, and a variety of other software (design, databases, organization) for communications, systems, and program accountability.

- This position requires comfort working in outdoor environments, regardless of the weather. This position is very active and frequently requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.

- The employee/member may occasionally lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

Travel: You will be expected to travel regularly to other DREAM regions in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, and to be able to work from a variety of spaces and situations. This travel is intended to support, understand, and meaningfully connect with our regional and site-based teams regarding volunteer recruitment.
