The National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health (NPWH) seeks a visionary, collaborative, and mission-driven executive to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer.  Representing more than 13,300 Women's Health Nurse Practitioners, students, and advanced practice registered nurses, NPWH is the leading professional association dedicated to advancing excellence in women's and gender-related healthcare. Through evidence-based clinical guidance, continuing education, advocacy, and professional leadership, NPWH empowers clinicians and champions high-quality healthcare for women and all individuals receiving women's and gender-related healthcare.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic executive to lead a nationally respected professional association during an exciting period of growth and innovation. Working in close partnership with an engaged Board of Directors, the CEO will shape organizational strategy, strengthen member value, expand advocacy efforts, and ensure the long-term sustainability and impact of NPWH.

The Opportunity

The Chief Executive Officer serves as the organization's chief staff executive and is responsible for providing strategic, operational, financial, and organizational leadership. The CEO oversees all aspects of the association while ensuring strong governance, sound financial stewardship, operational excellence, and an exceptional member experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with the Board of Directors to implement NPWH's strategic vision and organizational priorities
  • Providing executive leadership for all association operations, programs, finances, and staff
  • Leading membership growth, engagement, and retention initiatives
  • Strengthening advocacy efforts and representing NPWH with policymakers, healthcare leaders, and strategic partners
  • Building a high-performing organizational culture focused on collaboration, accountability, innovation, and service
  • Ensuring sound nonprofit governance, fiscal responsibility, compliance, and organizational sustainability
  • Serving as the public face of NPWH while strengthening relationships with members, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders nationwide

The Ideal Candidate

NPWH seeks a strategic and emotionally intelligent executive who combines exceptional leadership ability with a passion for advancing healthcare and professional practice.

Successful candidates will bring:

  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible executive leadership experience within an association, nonprofit, healthcare organization, professional society, or similar mission-driven organization
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively with a governing board
  • Strong financial management, strategic planning, and organizational leadership experience
  • Experience leading membership-based organizations or stakeholder-driven initiatives
  • Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and public speaking skills
  • The ability to build trust, inspire teams, and lead organizational growth and change
  • A commitment to inclusion, ethical leadership, transparency, and member service

A bachelor's degree is required. A master's degree in association management, nonprofit management, business administration, healthcare administration, public administration, public policy, or a related field is preferred. Certified Association Executive (CAE) or comparable professional certification is also valued. Experience within healthcare associations, nursing, advanced practice nursing, women's health, public policy, or advocacy is highly desirable.

Compensation

NPWH offers a competitive executive compensation package, including an annual salary ranging from $220,000 to $300,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Work Environment

This is a remote executive leadership position with periodic travel, including attendance at Board meetings, conferences, and other organizational events.
