Aloha United Way (AUW) has been serving the Oahu community for over 100 years. AUW was established in 1919 by the local philanthropic and business community as a more efficient way to raise and distribute charitable giving to community organizations.

Aloha United Way’s mission is to advance the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community by bringing together resources, organizations, and people. Through its dedication, AUW is able to build a stronger, healthier community by partnering with over 300 nonprofit organizations, businesses, government agencies, and community leaders to address critical social issues.

AUW addresses the most urgent systemic needs of the community through investment in impact areas including the ALICE Initiative, Community Care Fund, Safety Net, and 211 Statewide Helpline. As an advocate, resource, partner and connector to the community, AUW mobilizes resources, encourages volunteerism, and strives to create long-term, sustainable change that enhances the well-being of individuals and families.

The Board of Directors is filled with thought leaders from every sector of the community who are dedicated to creating systemic change. Their strategic guidance ensures that AUW remains a vital and impactful organization to lead the community into an equitable, healthy, and sustainable future. 

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As Aloha United Way prepares for the retirement of current President & CEO, John Fink, the Executive Committee of the AUW Board of Directors is seeking a President & CEO to build on past success and guide AUW into its next chapter of growth and impact. 
 

The President & CEO will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the organization and work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, and community partners to advance AUW’s mission to advance the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community by bringing together resources, organizations, and people. Key responsibilities include resource development, community impact, organizational management, program development, strategic planning, and advocacy efforts.

The President & CEO will leverage relationships and networks across private, public, corporate, labor, and nonprofit sectors to address community needs and strategically plan for new revenue sources, including grants, partnerships, and new business opportunities, and ensure AUW’s effectiveness in Education, Poverty Prevention, and Safety Net Services. With a deep and broad understanding of business and management skills, the President & CEO will lead a high-performing leadership team to achieve alignment and collaboration, ensuring operational and fiscal integrity. Additionally, the President & CEO will serve as the spokesperson for the agency, building continued trust and increasing relevance in the community.

The President & CEO will be instrumental in developing an updated strategic plan, driving initiatives that enhance the organization’s impact, and ensure sustainable growth and effectiveness in addressing Hawaii’s most pressing social issues.
