Summary

The Father Bernard Youth Center is entering into a new chapter with an exciting opportunity to build a new dormitory and strengthen its mission to young people. We are a Catholic youth and retreat center located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Our purpose is to give all persons a place where they can experience Christ. The Director will coordinate all aspects of our fund raising, including creating a capital fund and strong donor base.

Description

The Director of Fund Development reports to the Executive Director. The Director plays a key role in supporting Father Bernard Youth Center’s efforts to secure funding from individuals, foundations, and corporations to advance the mission of FBYC.
 
Essential job duties and responsibilities.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate all aspects of the FBYC development program, including individual solicitation, donor relations, grant research and applications and special events.
  • Process and steward in-kind gifts.
  • Conduct data entry; keep donor records up-to-date in donor database
  • Daily gift entry and processing.  Prepare reports for the board of directors as requested.
  • Support and work with the Annual Fund and Campaign leadership by organizing a broad range of administrative tasks, donor relations, and fundraising activities
  • Perform other duties and activities as assigned within the fund-raising area

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Able to manage multiple projects, handle interruptions and shifting priorities, maintain focus on tasks, and pay meticulous attention to detail, excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of fundraising and great customer service skills, and office procedures
  • Strong written, verbal communication and ability to communicate effectively with donors, corporate partners, colleagues and the general public in a timely manner
  • Able to work independently in a hybrid environment, and be a good team member
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and knowledge of donor database
  • Available some evenings and weekends to accommodate donor and fundraising activities and annual special events

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of two years working with a nonprofit organization in development/fundraising or non-profit administration
  • Experience with a constituent management type donor database
  • Experience working in a small office environment with multiple activities underway
  • Driver’s license

Physical Demands and work environment
 

  • General office work environment.  Opportunity to work from home.
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time, phone use, computer use.
  • Occasional travel
