Position Overview: 

CMP is seeking an experienced mission driven Executive Director to lead our 501c3 nonprofit organization. Per CMP’s charter statement, the Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization's operations, including strategic planning, program development, financial management, and personnel supervision. A proven track record of successful fundraising in the nonprofit sector is highly preferred. 

About the Common Mission Project. 

Common Mission Project seeks to create an international network of entrepreneurs driven to solve the critical national and homeland security challenges of our time. We are committed to empowering mission-driven entrepreneurs through a range of comprehensive services. Our organization prioritizes training and mentoring educators, providing grants to university student teams creating impact through entrepreneurship, and powering a network of mission-driven entrepreneurs. 

Key Responsibilities 

● Strategic Leadership: 

○ Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the organization's mission and objectives. 

○ Provide visionary leadership to inspire staff, volunteers, and stakeholders. ● Fundraising and Development: 

○ Lead fundraising efforts to secure financial support from individual donors, corporations, foundations, and government agencies. 

○ Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors and funding partners. ○ Develop and execute fundraising campaigns and events. 

● Program Management: 

○ Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services to ensure they align with the organization's mission and meet the needs of the community. 

○ Monitor program outcomes and make adjustments as needed to achieve desired results. 

● Financial Management: 

○ Develop and manage the organization's budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability. 

○ Oversee financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements. ● Board Relations: 

○ Work closely with the Board of Directors to provide regular updates on organizational activities, financial performance, and strategic direction.

○ Collaborate with the Board to recruit and engage new members. 

● Staff Leadership and Development: 

○ Provide leadership and supervision to staff members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. 

○ Support professional development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and expertise. 

● External Relations: 

○ Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing its mission and values to external stakeholders, government officials, and the public. ○ Build partnerships and collaborations with other organizations and community leaders to further the organization's goals. 

Qualifications: 

● Masters degree or Doctorate preferred; 

● Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit management, with a proven track record of successful fundraising and development. 

● Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others. ● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders. 

● Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into action. 

● Demonstrated financial acumen and budget management skills. 

● Passion for the organization's mission and a commitment to social impact.

Remote/Distributed work from main office in Arlington, VA
