Description
This position is key to Alford Group’s marketing and business development integration. The Marketing Manager is responsible for content creation, graphic design, campaign execution, digital strategy and lead conversion tracking. Success in this role means elevating Alford Group’s visibility, improving marketing-to-sales handoffs, and accelerating our sales pipeline through coordinated efforts.
Core Responsibilities and Expectations
Content Creation & Graphic Design
- Write, design and publish marketing content across platforms: blog posts, newsletters, landing pages, case studies, videos and more.
- Develop brand-aligned messaging and creative assets for social media, email marketing, digital ads and webinars.
- Innovate with new content formats including AI-enhanced content, video storytelling, and interactive media.
- Adhere to all brand guidelines and provide editing and design support for all branding across the consultancy.
Digital Marketing & Data-Driven Strategy
- Manage and execute digital marketing campaigns (email, social, paid ads) via the HubSpot Marketing Hub.
- Monitor and optimize campaigns based on performance data.
- Conduct A/B testing and audience segmentation to improve engagement and conversion.
- Regularly refresh web content and optimize web pages for search engine optimization (SEO).
Conference Planning & Execution
- Oversee the strategy and planning for Alford Group’s presence at in-person conferences.
- Manage Alford Group’s exhibitor booth, including the theme, design, lead generation strategy and coordination among colleagues.
- Manage Alford Group consultants’ speaking opportunities at conferences and visibility events.
Project & Relationship Management
- Oversee internal marketing project timelines and priorities.
- Coordinate and manage interns as needed.
Brand & Thought Leadership
- Ensure consistency across all branding materials and communication channels.
- Lead the development of thought leadership content, including ghostwriting, research summaries and presentation development.
- Contribute to Alford Group’s positioning in the nonprofit community through marketing innovation.
Marketing & Business Development Integration
- Partner closely with the business development team to align marketing activities with revenue goals.
- Create follow-up strategies for marketing-generated leads from webinars, events, campaigns and social media.
- Support proposal creation and develop client-facing materials that support sales conversations and pitches, as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or related field; or equivalent experience. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 5–7 years of professional experience in marketing, graphic design, communications, or sales support—preferably in a mission-driven or nonprofit setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High technical proficiency:
- MS Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
- Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator required.
- Experience or ability to learn WordPress.
- Video editing, such as Adobe Premier or similar expertise is preferred.
- Experience with content management system (CMS) and/or customer relationship management (CRM) platforms a plus. Experience with or knowledge of HubSpot is preferrable.
- High attention to detail and excellent analytical, critical thinking and active listening skills.
- Proven proofreading abilities, project management and time management skills.
- Ability to take initiative, simultaneously coordinate multiple projects and manage deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively on a team and independently with minimal supervision at times.
- Some travel may be required

Physical Demands
The position requires sitting and working on a computer for long periods of time as well as occasional lifting and carrying of presentation materials and supplies. Consultants must be able to interact seamlessly with clients through visual, aural, physical and written communications.
Work Environment
We are currently maintaining a hybrid work environment, with flexibility to work remotely or make use of our office location in Chicago, IL.

Compensation & Benefits
This is a salaried position with a range of $75,000 to $85,000 based on experience and a full benefits package, including a 401K plan, health insurance, paid time off and holidays.
